Sound system upgrade and 8-pin connectors disconnect

Thank you very much for the pictures and info. I can attest that the first time removing the plug and plugging it back in is difficult. If you do it a few times it will loosen up. I made two harnesses with the Amazon two sided (male/female) brown harness buy cutting the wires and connecting 9 wire bundles. The 9th wire is a blue remote wire that I did not use. 6 feet each is plenty to run the out and back wires to an amp under my driver’s seat to the head unit and brown plug connected to the speakers.

I went with the Audison SR 4.300 a there is room to spare under the seat. What a difference putting a little power to the speakers makes.

Thanks again for posting the info.

I forgot to update this post - I ended up taking my truck to a specialist to unplug the two connectors. It proved to be impossible for him to to unplug the brown connector too - probably a bad luck situation where mine is pressed in harder. We ended up disconnecting only the gray connector (after disconnecting the batteries of course). That worked well, I was able to connect the tweeters. My sound system and the sound dreading layers I applied made a big difference.

Sound deadening made a huge difference for me as well. Sorry to hear about the connector. I went by feel and accidentally removed the black one first. With it out, it was easier to unplug the brown one for me.
