Snorkel install 🤿

I installed the GrenX OEM style snorkel recently and took some pictures of the process to/

1. Help others considering this
2. Document the process
3. Show the factory raised intake

I’ve attached pictures to capture where the fender attachment points are and the process of removing the factory raised intake.

You can also see what the GrenX setup looks like once installed.

I am still waiting for my Diesel airbox to arrive as it is being powder-coated at the moment.

So far, I can report that the intake noise is pretty much the same (with OEM airbox).

The snorkel mounting is very strong and the alignment is perfect.

You can see from these pictures that the raised air intake is not sealed and comes together is many pieces.

What is more is that the fender plastic piece is actually two pieces pushed together that clip in and is unsealed the whole way.

There are a few joining points and I don’t believe that this raised intake can be sealed without high degree of risk of a leak.

The factory airbox is rubber mounted in 3 places.

You can also see a drain hole at the bottom of the airbox below the sponge.

Here are pictures of the GrenX snorkel installed. It also comes with many pieces as it is very tight space in the fender closer to the door side and a pass through section in the body.

The snorkel is done by Canna Fabrication which is a reputable place here in Australia.

It mounts very solid to the car. It uses thick seals to seal the joints as well as silicone hoses and SS tubes as pictured.
