Model Year 2026 (MY26) – Confirmed & Speculated Changes

I haven't been on the IA website in some time and while poking around just now I saw this: "heated windshield." I cannot find any other information. Do they simply mean there's a front defrost button as has been since day one or is this now something different (ie heating elements in the glass)?

I wondered the same thing. As far as I can tell, there is nothing to support a true heated windshield and the reported dual zone HVAC they refer anywhere when I sat in a 2026 model on the lot.

Makes sense to add, it's not that big a deal to include. I get the idea from day 1 was simple but the world doesn't want that, there are very few of us cavemen left where anything more that the wheel is just too much technology to handle

Oh boy if this is true there is going to be another set of complaints from people find the heating elements distracting. lol I have seen LR owners complain about it but at the same time love heads up display. Note: look through the windshield not AT the windshield.

I was just on the page yesterday quickly and noticed a huge update to the look, feel and navigation. Looks nice. Heard a tumor that there is a dealer company to New Orleans so just visited for curiosity sake.

I like it in the NAS, but, I got to paranoid as one went on about chips and a crack.

That would be one more thing in a flat faced off-road truck to spend $$$ on when it broke. I bet nowadays, you’d get some incessant warning about it not working, if you broke it and replaced it with a 1/4 price plain piece of glass.

Good point. I've had broken windshields in all 3 vehicles that I had heating elements in but never got an annoying warning. In a perfect world there should not be a warning for not having something like the windshield heating plugs attached but no matter what vehicle we drive there will probably always be something that us owners have an issue with. The person at any vehicle manufacturer that makes these decisions probably doesn't even own a car.

I was looking at dealer inventory pics and one had glass that looked quite different to my MY24.1.

It will have a female usb plug soldered into the corner and the dealer perform software update against the windshield

Just set the ADAS turn off as your favorite. I used to have the speed warning as my favorite, now I have the lane keep as the favorite.

We all know the interface is laggy af because IA cheaped out on CPU. I don't want to fumble around clicking a physical button and then having to work an interface with the dial or touch... and all of this EVERY SINGLE TIME I START THE TRUCK.

So we clear the speed limit click after what felt like years of waiting and now new folks gotta deal with this shenanigan again in 2026? What a hot mess.

P.S. Auto start stop sucks too

Yep auto start stop sucks. One physical button turns it off. They are not many cars still for sale that do not have this feature. When I want a nanny free experience I drive my 2006 Jeep!

That's why I can deal with the auto stop start. The big physical button is right there just like my Bronco Raptor where I can program auto stop start off by pressing a single R button on the steering whee. The ADAS stuff is a whole other ball of unnecessary, heavy handed regulatory BS that '26 owners will be forced to deal with however they wish.

For me, it's a hard pass. If my '24 acted like the '26, I would've never bought one.

We are in agreement. I am happy to have my '24. The ADAS updates are not an improvement and the camera in the mirror is a downgrade. I like my Wolfbox mirror too much to give it up. But it could be nice to have the new steering box with variable ratio. At some point it will be available as a spare part and I might have it swapped in.

All good in agreement or not. (y)

I actually have no complaints about the steering. I don't understand what the Agile dude is talking about when he describes steering as "intense" in the pre-'26. I drive on LA's 80-90mph 110/101/405/10 all the time and have zero complaints bone stock. Sure, it's no IFS Raptor or Tesla Plaid, but I don't shy away from the IG one iota because of its purported steering shortcomings (bone stock).

IA is stuck between a rock and a hard place. You got governmental regulations to incorporate on an old new truck design with no electric steering so you end up forcing your customers to deal with a half-arsed, useless ADAS system that is a necessary evil in an FSD/Waymo/Robotaxi era.

I'd be totally game for an Auto Pilot equivalent system in the IG, but it's a far cry from that reality today. Like we have basic cruise control and a bunch of bongs, beeps, clicks and now type of random braking when you cross a solid line. lol

I don't have an issue with the steering either. It is so much better than my Jeep as to not even warrant a comparison. But I do have a dead spot in the steering with the wheel turning a degree or so in each direction before anything happens. This is not present in all Grenadiers, I have driven examples with zero play. I just got unlucky with my particular example. If the new steering box would eliminate this play I would be happy. It doesn't help that my steering pump has the much complained about whine as well.

I actually test drove a $130K MSRP AEV Wrangler to cross shop and was shocked at how bad the steering was.

Every IG I've driven including the multiple new loaners given to me at the Pasadena dealership steered the same. In fact, I have a 1.1K mile loaner in the garage right now while my HVAC is getting attn.

There's free play in the center at all speeds, but nothing different than G wagons or Land Cruisers with solid front axles and a steering box. Just my personal experience.

I wish you a speedy journey to steering nirvana. Steering pump squeal is another bad joke of a topic.
