OK, I was hoping to be able to be able to make a video, but discovered that my videography skills absolutely suck. Also, once I had trouble I then forgot to continue to film, so the final photos will be what you get aside from the initial video. Apologies in advance.
1. I would like to advise that the shipping containers for the larger pieces that MetalCloak uses are sub-par at best. Maybe not their fault but that of a less interested FedEx employee. These larger pieces appear to have been dragged and dropped on the edges which changed the bends on the skids. They are skids, so not really anything a 2 pound sledge couldn’t fix but still a PITA for me as I was installing.
In any case, once the skids arrive, I would suggest opening all of the packaging and placing them in mounting order on a table as it will help you see the structure and how they will lie out once installed beneath your vehicle. One negative item overall is that one bag of screws/bolts are received. It is my opinion that individual bags should be included in each package that pertain only to that skid. Now, realistically, it wasn't that difficult to figure out but my way eliminates any doubt as to which fasteners go with each skid. I have attached some pictures that will illustrate the damage. (img 2218, 2219, and 2222)
2. I did call MC and they were very accomdating and would have gladly sent me another set with no issue. I declined as I really wanted to get them installed this weekend. Pay special attention to the boxes when they arrive as they are all separately packaged so I am sure you could refuse any of them individually.
3. I did create some videos but have no idea how to edit or insert them onto one of the readily acceptable media types. If anyone would like these, just shoot me a PM.
4. Follow the instructions and it is pretty simple. I think instructions specific to the Grenadier (ideally video) should be prepared by MC as there are some confusing things and some attach points missing from the instructions. There are two smaller allen head with the brass collars that are not mentioned in the instructions, so once I realized it, I then had to loosen most fasteners for all but the fuel tank; so proceed with caution, and I will later provide some photos of the ones I missed. There is a chance I might have missed them on the instructions, but I honestly do not think that is the case. You will be much better suited to have a buddy over to assist as two of the skids are pretty heavy. I do have a lift so I had some advantage. With or without a lift, some type of jack would be helpful.
Glad to answer any questions at all. Please note the finished install. I installed the diff guards as well today but have no photos of them as of yet.
