Shopping around for tires can be tedious enough but anyone else run into the situation where the brand/model/size you want only comes with raised white lettering? I’m not a big fan of raised white lettering or reverse mounting tires to hide them but it got me wondering what others preferences are and why the white lettering tradition is so prevalent with many off-road tire brands?

No white walls for sure. Most tires that have them are designed to be either or. You are not giving up anything going black walls out.

Legit off-road tires typically don't have white walls at all. All the others do it for the potential advertising. If you actually wheel your truck you will wear the white walls down pretty badly and it looks like crap.

The trick to keeping the white letter clean is using a soap with an abrasive, like that used by mechanics to clean their hands. In Australia that meant Solvol, which is no longer made. Lucky for me I have a couple of cakes left.

Wet the soap, rub it over the white letters like sand paper, wash off and it is done.

Wet and dry sand paper should also work.

I believe it’s Bridgestones, whose white lettering goes the full thickness of each letter, if you decide to show the white lettering out.

FWIW, I’ve never been a fan of the white letters out, but I like them on the Grenadier for some weird reason😜

When I first had BF Goodrich fitted to my old Defender I requested black side out. By mistake they fitted white lettering out. I grew to really like it and specified the same when buying my Grenadier.

I wasn't a fan of the white lettering at first but it has grown on me too.
Not keen when it goes into the dealer for work and they wash it and put tyre shine in the tyres, just doesn't suit the vehicle, I know it's supposed to be good for the tyres but it just looks a it 'pimp my ride' on a proper 4x4

I don't understand the dilemma, have your tire pro mount them with the white letters on the inside.

There are 2 types of 4wders
Pimpers and non pimpers. No middle ground. Find your tribe 😉

Its a look that either works or doesn't work for you when you walk out your door and see your Grenadier.. Personally I think the Grenadier could go either way with raised white letters, just make sure the tires are big! Send photos!
