Group Buy Nimbus Shocks for Grenadier

Has anyone fitted Nimbus shocks to their Grenadier? If so, what have they been

The GrenX Grenadier had them fitted. Over the last 3 days I was driving that car. It was a very nice car to drive, the shocks reduce body roll, they are better that the standard shocks (as they should be). That car had a BIlstein front damperer fitted, and the damperer, the Nimbus shocks and a great wheel alignment. It is the best steering I have ever experienced in a Grenadier. Way, way better than the OEM damperer.

@Adam-Oz also just had them fitted to his car, he picked up the car yesterday.

The GrenX Grenadier had them fitted. Over the last 3 days I was driving that car. It takes about a week to run in the nimbus shocks apparently and I will get to test the car in the Vic high country this weekend so I can give a better indication of how they perform by next week. First impressions are already very positive as the car is already significantly better in ride and steering towing a 3.5t caravan.

UPDATE on Nimbus shocks.
I was originally told by Nimbus how great their shocks were. Their sales information stated a life-time warranty and "magic carpet ride" on corrugations . Both these were very attractive to me and i went ahead and purchased a set.(very expensive especially with freight and import charges).
Well, a rear shock had an internal failure at 1000km. .Nimbus replaced both rear shocks as I expected they should. These are still working ok. At around 2000km, a rattle developed from the one front shocks. At 3000km the rattle had intensified and I discovered the top mount rose joint had 1.5mm play in it. At the same time, I discovered the other front shock had lost pressure. In discussions with Nimbus, they told me I had to purchase new front shocks and return the old ones to them for checking (all at my cost). They told me they would check the shocks and IF they found any manufacturing problems, they would replace the shocks and we could discuss the reimbursements of all my expenses. This exercise would have cost me around USD 6000 and no guarantee of any refund of costs.!
When I challenged them to their advertised "Lifetime warranty" I was told to read their warranty terms on their website. These terms had not been advised to me previously and when I read the terms, their warranty is effectively only 1 year!!
My advice to anyone looking at purchasing Nimbus shocks to ensure they read and understand the warranty terms before buying these shocks.
Consequently , I am looking at fitting Koni Raids. Has anyone had any experience with these Konis and how have they performed?

After sales in France (or French companies) is always like that.

A 1950's attitude, default is that it is your fault that their product failed.

I like the raids on my Gwagon better than the stock sachs. That was 15+ years ago they went on. There are plenty of options now and while I can’t compare, I’d imaging some of these newer newer designs have had to improve upon those. That having been said, I don’t have a problem with the stock shocks and wouldn’t bother going to raids unless the oem were done in, or I expected a bit more violent use.
 
I’ve had RAID’s in for about 6mo. They are way better that the stock Sachs units. The compression is a touch more plush which I like as I drive in Oakland or off-road, both rough. I dialed up the rebound one setting in (a 2 out of 4). It’s so much more controlled than the stock unit. I’d assume as the shock wears in, I can dial in more rebound as needed. They are also massive compared to stock units. the all steel body also gives the feeling of durability.

I switched because the stock shocks were squeaking over every bump. It was an easy excuse to upgrade.
 
I too have the Koni Raids fitted, with about 2 out of 4 stages of rebound set. They perform well on and off road, and for towing. Damping over severe corrugations in soft sand and reduced pitching when towing are better, which was my main requirement.

The Koni Raids match the original damper dimensions closely, notably for the front extended length (580mm) to minimise risk to the front driveshaft CV joint.

One alternative brand I looked at had a 36mm longer extended length for the fronts (and longer closed length too) which would have caused the front CV joint to greatly exceed allowable angles. Their sales person denied any risk to the CV joints.

So be very careful on closed and extended lengths.
