How wet is your differential case?

The procedure doesn't call for a lubricant around the outside face of the seal. The inner face must be lubricated with Kluberplus S06-100 gel. I assume this is the surface that the pinion flange runs on.
It also says to use an applicable seal driver. No mention of a special tool.

Kluberplus S06-100 gel is a water based lubricant to assist in assembly. The seal appears to be a cassette type to the outside and inner diameters will be fixed to there respective component surfaces.
There is a correct tool for installing the seal. The Carraro pinion seals in the Iveco Daily would leak if the seal wasn't installed and set in the correct position using the correct tool.

Yep, that's my point. The procedure doesn't specify a special tool to install the seal. That could be part of the problem with repeated leaking if workshops that are unfamiliar with the task use some other driver or method.

There are actually two procedures. One if the ring nut is being reused, the other for a new ring nut. The seal installation steps are the same.

The only listed special tool is a brake pedal depressor. The procedure calls for an applicable seal driver, and an applicable drive flange locking tool. Now it might just be that details of the correct seal installation tool were not available when these procedures were being written and 'use an applicable seal driver' is to be interpreted as 'use the correct Carraro tool'. Anyone relying solely on the manual without other information or related experience is not being told about a special tool.
