That's how it looks to me- just like the Toyota factory ones. Hopefully they are easily unscrewed and then replaced with a real breather higher up.
How do one way breathers work? surely air should be allowed back in as the diff cools down otherwise you have a vacuum 🤔

good explanation here;

Ok from reading that isn’t there a flaw in the Ineos design then,
vacuum created and then drawing water into the axle via the seals whilst wading. I dont suppose wading mode could mitigate that 🤔

I'll be running them up into the engine bay/RAI or other. Rather they are out of harms way. Perhaps IA know exactly what they have done and why but until fond out more will plan to re-route.

Thanks for that Dave I understand now. What I don't understand then is what is Ineos thinking? Is it that if you switch on wading mode you will then get a warning telling you to wait for diffs and transmission to cool down before entering the water? They must know something we don’t to say you can confidently wade in 800mm of water with the one way valves installed.
This is the setup Ronny Dahl recommends but he also recommends waiting a minute or so before doing a water crossing

I

Thanks. I want to get to the bottom of the Ineos thinking on this. The Grenadier is built on purpose after all 😂
I guess they were thinking their solution will be ok for 90% of their customers and the other 10% will change whatever they supply to their favourite solution anyway.
You can change those percentages to whatever you want/think.
Keep in mind they have always said it is a platform for owners to modify and build on.
Price is already high enough

It would be handy if any “owners” could look in the manual to see what Ineos say on the matter and indeed check the diffs. I can’t believe they would leave themselves so open to potential claims regarding damaged diffs etc. They clearly state a wadding depth of 800mm - they have no caveats regarding seals or breathers so presumably they are confident that no damage will occur. Really disappointing if owners have to make mods on a “built for purpose” new car designed specifically for wadding at 800mm.

And whilst we are talking about water in the diffs:

@Krabby Do you recall if the Grenadier on the ramps at the NY event (the one in which I took the pictures of the Diff Vents) had the RAI?

No, I didn't even look that day. Wasn't on my mind - I was a kid in a candy shop with no time to read the ingredients.

Also, I’m sure we have enough vehicles in customer hands to put this to bed. At least for this generation of Grenadier.

Or are we starting down the sales market modification road?

As Promised, here are some pictures I was able to snag of the diff vents on the ramped Grenadier at the NY event.

-Red Arrow indicates the Front Differential Vent (Driver side biased)
-Green Arrow indicates Rear Differential Vent (Passenger Side Biased)

Nothing Special, as expected, but here they are FWIW

are we kidding? breathers on axle and not raised inside the hood? :censored:
