AO now offers Jumper Cables with 50 mm² NATO Plug

Or you could if you want to jump start either the Grenadier or another car, just get a regular set of heavy duty jump leads and use the jump start post under the bonnet.

This day and age, it seems like jumper cables are a large bit of unnecessary kit, particularly on planned journeys. The little Lithium Jump Packs seem to do the job just as well (assuming you monitor charge status) while taking up much less space and weighing much less than a good set of Heavy Gauge Jumper cables.

Added bonus, no 'Cable Length' issues to contend with. Cause no matter how long the cables, they always seem a tad too short (kind of like winch cables)..

And they are comparatively (to this NATO plug solution) cheap!

Agreed I’ve got a Noco-boost myself. I was merely stating about regular jump cables as I really can’t see the point of a jumper cable with a NATO plug on one end as only useful one way. The Grenadier isn’t designed to be jump started from the NATO plug.

Not nearly as cool as using a NATO plug…

If there are two options to getting something done and one involves opening the hood and the other does not require cracking the hood then I will take option two every time. So ya, the NATO jumper cables are cool. And yes if you have the solenoid engaged like you would to use a rear winch these cables could be used to jump start the Grandier from another vehicle. The electricity does not care which direction it is flowing unless a diode has been put in place to prevent bidirectional flow. As far as we know the Grenadier has no such diode for the NATO port.

But if it requires a jump start, it's possible it doesn't have the power to engage that solenoid, so they'd leave you SOL, even if another vehicle was available. Those Fancy NATO plug cables may be of little use. And honestly, popping the hood might be easier than dealing with a NATO cap that isn't cooperative..

Maybe the 'cool' factor of having something someone else doesn't warrants the ridiculous price for some. Still ridiculously priced, for something that is limited in value, IMHO..

The power coming from the other vehicle would engage the solenoid, so that is not an issue.

I have no intention of buying these cables. I just find it to be a cool solution and keep envisioning cables with a NATO plug on both ends. Only useful for connecting two Grenadiers to each other but fun to think about in a group travel kind of situation.

Ok. I have to agree because I’m guilty of buying lots of things that look cool. 🤔
