ADAS Update? Is this really happening?

It's odd that the upgrade version that will take the least amount of time to apply is taking longer to release.

I am repeating myself here, but what exactly are the differences between the 24.1, 24.2, 24.3 builds etc. Far as I can tell no one has detailed the differences here on the forum. And how does one determine which build you have? My VIN is 10764 which is for sure 24.1, same as Dokatd who also has a low VIN. But for other owners with the higher VINs how do you actually determine which build you have?

Here's my take on this... The MY24.2+ update also includes a fix to a problem (the fuel level implausibility code that causes the CEL after getting fuel), where as MY24.1 has had that fix available for months, and the ADAS related stuff is just a convenience update. It would seem to me that it is important to prioritize fixing problems before annoyances.

The part that makes a difference for this update (and previous ones) is that the infotainment/headunit has different hardware in the MY24.2 and newer (just like, from what I'm told MY24.1 has different hardware than all the various MY23 variants). There are a few other changes (like one of the transfer case shifter cables has heat shielding on the newer models), but nothing drastic.

I picked my Grenadier up from Rusnak service today. Eden there was great to work with. While it was in for a windshield replacement they installed the software update that we have all been waiting for. I'm happy to say that it does allow you to turn the over speed warning off and it permanently remembers that it is off. No more over speed clicking for me! I turned off ALL ADAS warnings and the dash light illuminate like they always have. I haven't checked to see if they will stay off permanently because I find the lights more annoying than the lane departure clicking. I can live with the lane departure clicks.

What else do ya'll what me to check on this new firmware version?

Lastly, Eden said that the update does in fact take 5 hours! At most she said they can update 2 cars a day and it is going to be a challenge if everyone in LA storms the gate hoping to get the update done. Their shop manager is coming at 7 am to do these. I hope everyone can find some peace knowing that the over speed warning fix in actually out with the older cars to get the release soon. At least there is light at the end of that tunnel and it's nice to see that Lynn is living up to the promises that she has made.

I was under impression that the dash lights wouldn't activate when ADAS was turned off permanently.😡

I was hoping that was the case but it isn't. The "camera" light still comes on when you turn off the lane departure and the other ones come on when you turn off the other silly ADAS "features". Just the same, I'll take the HUGE win on making the ludicrous over speed clicking stay off.

No the ADAS functionality does not change at all, the only difference is that it remembers the setting you leave it in.

If you disable all ADAS functions, or the lane warning, you'll still get the icon on the telltale cluster

I am 24.1. VIN 10608.

Pinion seals and door locks getting addressed under warranty. Hoping 24.1 is out by Thursday next week 😛

Maybe I’ll change my plate to include 24.1 :)

How is it 2025 and it takes 5 hours to update some software on a vehicle! Lol. I can update the Jeppesen approach charts on my ipad every month (about 2Gb of data) over wifi in no more than 6-9 minutes on my Ipad....

Either way I am happy to hear the issue is resolved...but rather annoying I'm just going to have to wait till my rig is ready for its 10K service appointment to get it installed. No way I'm wasting a day at the dealer just for the update.

I recently learned the dealer doesn't actually do the update itself. They only connect to the vehicle and ask for the mother ship to do the rest... I should explain there is someone on the other side verifying and performing the update itself., not the tech at the shop. I'm guessing the update takes so long just to get everyone lined up and the work started. Ineos is keeping the Grenny on lock down....

I believe this and think it's total bullshit. My damn Wake Boat updates over the air via cellular. And if an update fails there is a USB A plug under the dash to allow you to plug in a thumb drive so a local tech can fix the problem. I actually had a tech come out to the lake to push an update because we had a whole boat load of people whose day was going to be ruined if the update wasn't loaded right. Met him at a remote dock and he hopped on and performed the update.

Grenadier has WiFi capability,Ineos should allow it to connect to your home network and update as needed via that connection. So many ways Ineos could have skinned this cat properly. Very disappointing they made a bare bones necessity only vehicle so complicated and locked down.

Once the update is done I will be content enough I suppose, but good lord what a ride getting there.

Boats and for that matter cars shouldn't need computers that require updates. As I have said before, they should only need a little programming for engine management and in a car they might need a transmission control computer. The rest of this is complete bullshit. None of these updates have anything to do with the core operation of the car or your boat. These updates are all for crap that is controlling "features" that are f'ing useless and I don't want. Maybe that is why the newest boat I own is a 1999 Howard. It has a very simple fuel injection that is easy to work on and in 25 years hasn't required a single update. The oldest boat I have is a 1950 racing Chris Craft that is even easier to work on.

Why is it that people think all this stuff is "progress" when they can't actually fix any of it themselves. God help us if things really go sideways in this world.

Completely agree, but I'm working in the realm of today's regulatory environment. As for my boat, it's has a lot of ballast and wake modifying plates and tabs. The updates improve the shaping of the wake for wake sports. Could it be done manually, sure but it sure works well as is. And frankly the way I use this boat will not leave me stranded for hours or days. I also have a wooden hand made boat that has an engine, a battery and a bilge pump. Thats it and it's carbureted so no computers what so ever. I do all the work on that one but my Nautique is under warranty so I'm hands off. But hell, give me a sailboat and I am happy personally.

I'd prefer far less junk in my Grenadier for sure. I hoped for a whole lot less. Hell I would have paid more for less frankly. But again our regulatory environment won't let us have that these days.

Well all I have to say is I have NEVER been able to get the OTA update to work on my canoe, and it didn’t even come with a backup camera. At this price point, I think that’s unacceptable. Father Larry tried to perform an exorcism and I took it to the Wicca retreat center for a moonlight crystal healing dance and zip - nada - nihil. The entire state of Wisconsin has expended the full extent of its intellectual and spiritual powers, to no avail.
