2024 ADAS Issue and Work Around (USA)

Complaining is fine....it's not perfect. We all agree. But a few of you incessantly complain in multiple threads and play the victim card when others get tired of your whining.

Life's short, if you are not happy move onto something else.....or continue to wallow in your misery.
I'm likely one of those "complainers" you are talking about. I look at it a bit differently though. I'm certain Ineos monitors this forum and reads the threads... can't imagine them not being interested in what folks are saying about their product. The more vocal we get about these issues however trivial they might seem in this public setting the more likely we are to all benefit from updates down the line.

I always have made it a point to surf the new posts and threads with these sort of complaints and give them thumbs up etc. Strength in numbers!

I'll also be the first to say I absolutely love my Grenadier- there is nothing else even close to it on the market. Have zero plans to ditch it... but that doesnt mean its 100% yet and couldn't use some tweaks!

Zimm, just because I have things I don’t like doesn’t mean I loose sleep at night. Next I have a 23 loaner and it’s perfect and quiet and doesn’t require a bunch of nonsense to make it a pleasure to drive. This bull shit people spew about get rid of it, move on, let it go blah blah blah. It’s all bull shit. Most here drive their truck to the mall or work once a day. Mines getting fixed, Ineos knows they are stuck with it till they resolve all its issues and the software.
I.F. hi again. We have talked in the past. I have nothing against you at all and it’s your right to post what you want on this forum. The problem is many people (me included) just honestly get tired of the constant every post/thread complaining and being so negative on the brand. I remember a past post where you stated your first loaner Grenadier from the dealership broke down on you then you had to get a 3rd and it too was having issues. I promise I am not trying to be mean, but maybe the Grenny’s are trying to tell you something. 🤷‍♂️

I don’t think it’s bullshit when others say to you if you are so miserable to sell it and move on. I have even mentioned that to you before. I had a similar issue with a specific manufacturer that I loved the car and wanted to keep it but kept having issue after issue and even with the loaner car as well. I took that as a hint from the car Gods to walk away from that brand and have never bought another one. That was my last problem child car and was years ago. So I think I did the right thing. If you look at your post history, I think you know how much you say negative stuff about the Grenadier and my perspective is that members are only saying to sell it and move on to help you get out of this funk you are in. Not everyone is trying to hurt or put you down. I would love nothing more than you to have a trouble free vehicle. I am also a realists and know tomorrow or the next day I will most likely see a new negative post from you. Good luck I.F. ✌️🙏

Dude, I’m going to kindly tell you to move along. I’ve never had a problem with any loaner as I’ve only ever had the one, and it’s the one I’m still driving. So I have no idea what the hell you’re talking about. So do me a favor and stop giving me unsolicited advice. Go cuddle your grennies now.

Could have swore that was you and when I commented on that before I also commended you on working with animals trying to save/help them and you sent me a PM and we talked civilly via PM’s. Maybe I’m mistaken on some or all parts, I am getting old and my memory isn’t as sharp as it used to be. Plus the damn VA has pumped so many meds into me to keep me a nice peaceful civilian that I can’t even remember what happened 2 days ago much less whenever this did or didn’t take place. So if that wasn’t you, I will be the first to apologize. HOWEVER (wish I could make this even larger), it is extremely hard to move along when I go into a thread that interest me and bam lo and behold there YOU are AGAIN talking about the SAME issues. Mr. I.F. let me let you in on a little secret, EVERY SINGLE MEMBER ON THIS FORUM KNOWS ABOUT YOUR ISSUES!! Heck, I even have had several members send me PM’s saying to just block or avoid debating with you. So apparently you love repeating yourself and yes it’s your right to do so, but it’s also my right to say I’m tired of reading that the dealership still has your Grenadier. I’m sorry about your experience, but for you not to take the numerous members giving you advise on selling it and walking away well that’s on you. I don’t think most are being mean, just trying to help. It’s like fate or karma or whatever you believe in is trying to give you a hint and you just either don’t care or blind to what’s happening. I have meet and worked along side several people like you, unfortunately life didn’t turn out in good terms for most of them. No matter what you think or the mean response posts you normally rebut people with, I mean you no harm nor do I wish you any bad luck, but your lack of self awareness or reading the room is probably the worst I have ever ran across. Ok, going now to cuddle my Grenny’s (btw no doubt you were being facetious, but the joke is on you, I really do hug and talk to my Grenny’s!!)!!🤷‍♂️😉😎

Dude, I was responding to someone with the exact same gripe I have. I’m not sure why that get people so upset. It’s not me who get my feelings all tied up in knots. I too suffer from ptsd, and trust me I know what anger is and what it isn’t. The fact so many can accept shit and like it is beyond some of us. For those of you who like to accept sub par that’s cool, I’m happy you can carry on and be happy. Some of us don’t like it. I’m fully allowed to respond and support those who agree with me. That don’t hug their trucks at night, And just want Ineos to get its act together. Did you read the comment I was responding to?

Next I’m not even mad they still have my truck, I don’t care really, I have a functional loaner that dies everything mine should do without any problems or noises or bings or bongs. No shitting off Adas, no annoying lane warnings. It’s god damed perfect. So don’t tell me they can’t fix my truck. They built this one!

Think they would sell you the loaner?

Allowing the "FAV" button to pull up the needed screen to disable the over speed warning is one of the very first things I did when I got my Grenadier. So now after I start up the truck I push FAV and disable it, along with the button that keeps the truck running when I come to a complete stop.

They can't. The loaner was a MY2023 and not intended for N/A Market.
I can’t comment on why they can’t, but the internal labeling and such along with GVW stickers and identifier tags are all USA standard stuff. I do believe this is some type of test mule though as it has a bunch of interesting additional relays, Dual OBD ports, a few other diagnostic points. It’s a solid rug though, far better than mine in a lot of ways I’d say.

Got to be a test model and why they won’t let you keep it in trade. I have never owned or even seen a vehicle with dual OBD ports. I wonder why you would need 2? Factory and test ports? 🤷‍♂️

The original dealer demo vehicles are MY23.75 with an odd mix of 2023 and 2024 parts and are owned by INEOS, not the dealers. They are not legal for sale to customers because they don't have all the equipment (ADAS bits primarily) that the vehicles were certified to have

There's no "shortcut" to dim the display, but the brightness is set independently for with and without lights on
Hey Anand - can you share how to set the 'with headlights' and 'without headlights' brightness settings for the display? As far as I can tell there is simply Settings -> Display -> Display Brightness... No ability to set a couple of different values? Thanks!

Turn the headlights on; settings -> display -> display brightness -- set brightness with lights on
Turn the headlights off; settings -> display -> display brightness -- set brightness with lights off

It's really that simple :)

My recent observations on two ADAS features that drive me nuts: (1) Drowsiness warning and (2) "Intelligent" speed assist.

(1) I drove from NYC up to Montreal on Tuesday with no problems whatsoever until I got to Adirondack Park north of Lake George. Since there had been an unusually visible presence from the New York State police starting south of Albany, I set the cruise control at 73 and enjoyed the right most of the effectively deserted two northbound lanes of I-87. Except that after 30 or 45 minutes I started getting repeated Drowsiness Warnings flashed at me even though I had kept the truck in the right lane continuously. Because I find all the flashing idiot lights -- which obscure the odometer and trip meter -- really annoying, I finally caved and turned off the cruise control. And voila, the "smart" car no longer thought I was drowsy. But my speed did slip up to 81 at one point north of Plattsburgh and I caught the attention of a state patrolman who was both gracious and polite. But a sarcastic thank you to Ineos for (as near as I can tell) using its own cruise control system as an indicator of driver drowsiness. (Tellingly, this was both the first time in 19,000 miles I ever got a drowsiness alert and the longest period I had ever set the cruise control for -- a feature I rarely use. And, yes, I could have just turned off the Drowsiness alert but I wanted to test as to whether the cruise control had triggered it.)

2. I generally don't disable the speed monitoring function since when I do it makes it much more likely that the red flashing AEB warning light will get triggered. I've covered the speed indicator on the head unit display screen with black tape since it's been wrong enough times that I feel safer having it covered and actually reading the posted speed signs. But, and this is the rub, when the speed monitoring is turned on (i.e., the speed sign display is enabled whether covered or not), I find myself getting a Speed Assist Limited Function warning flashing on the head unit screen quite often in certain circumstances. I find this warning both annoying and unnecessary; simply replacing the speed limit sign with a question mark -- or blank space -- would convey the same information without intermittently disabling my ability to see my odometer and trip meter. The way the Speed Assist Limited Function warning seems to work I am convinced it's relying on an internal database which (I guess reasonably) favors existing roads in the US. So for example when I was on the brand new route 9 extension east of Bangor, Maine a few weeks back, even though the speed limit was signed, I kept getting the warning. And when I travel in Canada (and I've had four trips across the border since I bought my truck last December) I seem to get this warning something like five or ten times more frequently than I do when driving in the States, even -- once again -- when the roads have clearly readable posted speed limit signs.

I am interested to know whether other Ineos owners think I am right on these two points or have had different experiences which contradict my conclusions.

Just had a thought as I read your post - is the truck “smart” enough to realize the signs are in KPH and not MPH.

To the lament of some members we cannot swap our units to metric so when entering CA, the system must get confused by the signs, right?

Before I covered up the little speed sign on the head unit display with black tape, it would read most Canadian speed signs (assuming I had "Speed Limit Info" turned on) but it would simply display say "110" not "110 KPH". What it did with this info and whether the mercifully now suppressed overspeed BOING would have worked using KPH info is something I never tested.

My sense was that the system knew the difference (or at least knew the signs in Canada weren't in miles) but I also have repeatedly sensed that the speed limit info relies more on a location based data base than actual sign reading -- hence the huge uptick in Speed Assist Limited warning signs when traveling north of the border.

I find it totally credible that IA pulled the dual speed display mode because of (in this case) US law. But as a programmer and computer geek, I can't figure out why they didn't just program the display to automatically (or optionally) convert to KM when the GPS indicates you're in Canada (a pretty simple test I should think for a system that already records a gazillion location based speed limits) unless US law requires US vehicles to display miles even when they are in a country like Canada that uses KM. And yes I find the inability to switch units really annoying. (Even as I'm convinced the MPG shown on the otherwise really superb offroad travel screen is hardwired to assume imperial gallons since I never get 18 miles per US gallon despite what it routinely tells me.)

Take away some of the computer stuff, though, and this is far and away the best vehicle I've ever owned.

From what I have heard traffic sign recognition is a combination of a database and cameras "seeing" the signs.
