What did you do with your Grenadier today?

The projects never end! If anybody is installing differential skids, I’d highly recommend running a tap through the threads. I was amazed how much junk was behind the plastic plugs
That’s a snug fitting differential guard The guards I used from Almont4wd had to be cut back as they fouled the anti sway bar when fully loaded and especially then when articulating off road. I had to cut the rear one along the red line. They are very substantial though.

And this is why I fitted diff guards. A strike on a rock whilst off road, dislodged the diff cover causing a slow leak. Quite rough track conditions though.

Thanks for the suggestion, I am installing all my underbody protection this weekend, provided the Colonel doesn’t have other things to waste my time with…..I’ll be at the shop installing, and sipping Guinness between each piece that gets mounted. If anyone is bored and wants to supervise, shoot me a PM and I’ll get you the address. I have plenty of chairs, but BYOFB! LOL!!!

M12-1.50 and M10-1.50 taps

Drove from TX to Colorado yesterday, about 850miles, 14hours!

Truck is great, except for the hvac with a mind of its own and maybe the MPGs 😂

Going to need to get the hvac checked when I get back, always the opposite temperature of what I want.

I got out for half a day. It hasn’t rained in a month, making for very dry terrain in January. Despite the lack of moisture, I still have my winter setup on, 18” w/ Yokohama AT4’s (AT/3PMS) for trips to Tahoe. The reduction in traction compared my Yokohama X-AT’s (hybrid) is quite noticeable, surprisingly so.

Finally finished wiring in my inverter that I've had for months. It's going to be for using a heat pad. Been too cold for me to do anything or I've not been fit enough when it was. Just need to get a fuse today.
My next job is to make some kind of adjustable lumber support that will have the heat pad built in. I do have heated seats but with a heat pad I won't need the base on in the summer and hopefully the aircon will keep me cool.

Returned home from the central Otago trip. Music festival, car racing and winery visits all on same weekend. Really couldn’t ask for more and then this Clyde dam scenic viewing spot came up. Hard to resist. And then bought the best fish and chips in South Island New Zealand on way home too. Life is truly good!!

GrenX Accessory Rail (RHD car)
Working from the right side I have a GME UHF Mic holder on the angle side (not available on the Own Vans Rail). I can move the UHF hand-piece across from the passenger side holder, when offroad.

I dissembled the GME Mic Holder (Model MB207), drilled a hole in the back plate, inserted a stainless steel 1/4 inch 20 UNC bolt through the hole, reassembled the Mic holder. Put double sided tape on the back and then screwed the ¼ inch 20UNC bolt into the GrenX Rail. The screw driver was just inserted through the opening in the GME Mic Holder. The idea was from Rohan at @GrenX. I did buy 1/2 20UNC bolts but they did not fit into the Mic Mount. The 1/4 bolts fitted perfectly.

Next is the Garmin GPS Tracker.

Far left is the holder for the caravan reversing camera screen, not currently mounted. This reversing camera and the Garmin use RAM Mounts.

Pictures below show the Mic piece moved from the passenger side holder to driver's side holder.

Lousy images taken with my iPhoneSE.

Collected the car from Compass (dealer) in Bridgewater where it has its 24,000 mile service. Engine management light has been on for a month (orange) which a worn wire shorting on the adblue dosing controller. Very irritating.

Heavy clay in Somerset and the River Perrot burst its banks last week - Driving home was the first time I have used Wade Mode and was rather glad of it for the couple of miles or so of water logged roads en route. I guess 18 -24 inches deep but I didn't stop to check as it was getting dark and I thought there might be deep ditches either side if I veered off the narrow lane.

I'm currently installing an Icom IC455-UHF (CB) radio and Zetifi combination UHF and 4G/5G cellular antenna.

I got the antenna installed today using an ARB bolt-on UHF bracket. I was inspired to use that bracket after seeing @bigleonski's post here. Thanks Leon.
The antenna has two coax connections (UHF and Cellular) and a power connection so there are three cables to run.
The ARB bracket is designed for a 47.6mm diameter bar so I had to adjust the drilling template for the 51.8mm diameter Ineos roobar. It bolts up nicely to the roobar and is a good alternative to a clamp bracket.
Installation requires a 24mm hole to be drilled in the front of the tube and a 10mm hole in the back. Once you make those holes there is no going back!
I wet-assembled the bracket onto the bar using silicon to stop water from entering the roobar tube.
ARB don't seem to have the bracket on their website. It's accessory for their Summit bullbar range. PN 35011170.

The IC-455 UHF will go under the glovebox (left side of my RHD vehicle). There is a good flat mounting surface there. I'll use INT1 for power. I did have my Wolfbox on INT1 but I have moved that over to a fuse tap setup so I get an ACC signal and parking mode will work properly.
The Cel-Fi will go under the front passenger (left side) seat. It's already in a portable case because I move it between my vehicle and my camper. The case has internal, external and power sockets built in so it's an easy plug and play setup to move it back and forth. I will need to add a single cig socket outlet under the seat to power the Cel-Fi.
