What did you do with your Grenadier today?

I received preproduction samples of the rear door window bags from the craftsmen at Overland Outfitters. I had designed and sewed a bag for the narrow door window as a proof-of-concept and six weeks ago I sent that bag and a design and patterns for a wide rear door window bag to them; they created samples for testing as a first step towards deciding if they should put these production.

The narrow door window bag is basically a duplicate of the proof-of-concept bag I sewed. It's pretty much ready for production, but probably should undergo a little testing first. The pocket panel on the lower half of the door is already in production.

The wide door bag has two pockets, a large pocket on the low side of the window and a smaller pocket on the high side.

The wide side also has a zipper closure in addition to the top flap.

I'm not completely satisfied with the fit of the wide door bag, so I'll make a few suggestions to the folks at OO and ask for another sample with the changes. Maybe I'll ask for a black sample to see how it looks in that color. Also the bags probably need some good testing before OO decides to put them in production.

The bags are not higher than the spare, so visibility out the back isn't any worse than it is without the bags. I designed the narrow door bag to be a little taller than the wide door bag, let me know if you think they should both be the same height, and if so, should the narrow door bag be lower or should the wide door bag be taller.

Both mount very securely without screws, double side tape or any other "destructive" attachment method; they don't damage the door and they're easily removable.

Here's a View of the bags along with some other Grenadier products from Overland Outfitters (https://www.overland-outfitters.com/ineos-grenadier.html#/):

Red still seems appropriate (and in keeping with the cover of the adjacent 12 volt post), considering the risk…
I was playing around with a two colour job.

Trying to continue the black/red theme.

Just need to now print in a filament material better suited to the temps under the bonnet. PLA is ok for prototyping but doesn’t like heat. 🤨

Will you sell
Some for folks who don’t have a 3D printer
Is possible, however postage cost can make a cheap part expensive. Having someone local print for you is much more cost effective.

The design will be shared free of charge.

Just needs to be printed in the right material due to heat exposure under bonnet. ASA should be ok, but PC or PP may by better options.

Not my Grenadier but stopped in for some whiskey and a pint at “the” Grenadier while here in London for a couple days…..

I didn’t realize Jim went and bought the place :)

I did the same but used the stedi mounting plates… just cut them short to fit. These are the best option on the market for camping lights if you ask me :) very versatile with white/yellow and individual dimmer for each color….
No need to cut off the Stedi brackets. Just give them an initial shove at a 45 degree upward angle and they will then lay flat to bolt into place. These Stedi Micro Touch Dual Color 13.9" lights were $104 each delivered to the US from Stedi UK. Two weeks from the time of ordering to my front door. They await connection as I finalize my rooftop electrical plan (trying to make sure I don't forget something and have to rewire it later).

It’s our pickup and it’s my son driving 😅

But, yeah, the Ineos is awesome.

Lots of snow

This is a couple of miles away (not my pic)

Last time I saw it like that we owned a Volvo 340 and had normal tyres on it. Drove from Aberdeen to Helmsdale. Were staying in a cottage up the hill from village and we scraped the road with shuttle and then wife pushed me up. She drove a lot from Aberdeen. Loads of cars in ditch and struggling to get up the dips. We arrived well after midnight on new years day.
Next day the road from cottage looked like your snow drift shots.
It was still like this when we had to go home so we dug our way down to the village. Lovely old couple at the last snow drift sent son out to dig the car through and gave us tea and toast to warm up. Harbour frozen when we were there, I think news said -24 in the valleys by us.
After that I always aimed to have a 4x4 and started using winter tyres when I could.
