What did you do with your Grenadier today?

Will these fit around the grab handle with the electric connection? Or must they go on the empty handle?
Should fit, as on my QM:

I'm part way through some off-schedule servicing and a bit of preventative maintenance. I pulled the lid off the airbox today to check inside for cleanliness. The filter was replaced at the 24 month service with 26,500km on the odometer. I'm now at 33,500km but I expected the filter to be ok. I was wrong.

This is how the filter was when I lifted the lid. The service technician pinched the seal when it was installed . That's bad workmanship. It has been leaking slightly ever since.
My vehicle is now off the road while I source a new filter. I tried to do a temporary repair to this one but it's too far gone. Plus, I cannot find a glue in my workshop that will bond this rubber. EPDM maybe? Contact cement and standard CA don't work.

My agent no longer exists so there's no come back there. Annoying.

Very annoying and piss poor on the so called technicians part.

This happens as the captive bolt catches the seal, I brought this to my dealers attention and they posted a new one to me (I live 250klms away) all service techs should know this

It's quite a compromised job with obstructions all around it.
Of course it's the week between Christmas and New Year so a lot of parts places are closed. I could not get Ignition on the phone today so I've sent them an email. They might also be closed until next week.
Nothing aftermarket near me.
I'm not desperate for the vehicle. I did have some short trips planned but they can wait.

When you find a supplier buy a spare as well.

Isn't it just a standard BMW Mahle LX 3985? Same day on Amazon where I live.

Ideally the 3985/2 as it has the fluffy pre filter which the /1 and /3 don't have.

This is a Mahle LX3985/1. 64mm high with fluffy pre-filter. B57 diesel.

Nothing on Amazon AU. Import only.

I picked up one of those in South Africa at a BMW garage and it’s not deep enough. As @Clark Kent noted above they should be around 64mm deep.

Clark, I have a spare non Ineos Mahle LX3985/1 - it’s yours if you want it. Not sure which way you’re planning to head but I’m in sunny coast QLD. Let me know

I installed the Garmin PowerSwitch using the Tiny Rig Co bracket today. It’s a premium bit of kit, but the install was seamless and well worth the cost.

I integrated it with my existing Redarc DC/DC setup to add remote switching. I also moved the overhead auxiliary load panel to the house battery; now I can run my Starlink and rack lights without draining the starter.

The Tiny Rig bracket mounts perfectly to the factory auxiliary fuse bracket. Below it, you’ll see some extra wiring for my Midland radio and WeBoost unit (the latter is tucked away by the lithium battery). I kept the wires long for now but plan to clean them up and move everything to the Garmin PowerSwitch tomorrow.

This shows the PowerSwitch being mounted and the power wires pulled through. I’ve also disconnected the 80A auxiliary wire from the fuse box; it's currently dangling as I prepare to move it to the auxiliary battery.

Here is a closeup of the dangling wire for the aux power that i'm relocating to the aux battery.

I extended the auxiliary power wire to connect directly to the 80A Bussmann fuse on my lithium battery. I used an eye terminal and a screw/nut connection, then insulated it with electrical tape for a tidy fit inside the fuse box.

Wiring Note: Temporarily using 10 AWG (30cm) for testing. I'll upgrade the gauge tomorrow, though current loads stay well under 30A.. But in the future i may want to go to 80A load so i may just as well get it sorted.

Tested it. Starlink is very happy on my lithium battery. The main in the roof power switch handles turns power off correctly!

Final two pictures, show how it looks with covers back on and tidy look.

I really dig this bracket from tinyrig. its ingenious. And i like that the garmin powerswitch shows up in the grenadiers main display. its supports android auto.

Next Steps & Planning

  • Wiring Upgrade: I’m upgrading to a heavier gauge wire from the lithium battery to the auxiliary load panel for higher safety margins.
  • Device Migration: I plan to move my fridge and inverter to the Garmin PowerSwitch, ensuring they stay within the total power budget.
  • Lighting Automation: I’ll be running a 4-strand wire to the engine bay to link my headlights to the Garmin’s sense inputs and control outputs. I won't run high currrent this way, i'll use the garmin to control relays in the engine bay.
  • Control Logic: The PowerSwitch will automate the auxiliary lights based on high-beam status, while the factory roof switches will remain the master overrides.

(and i need to put the lid on the fuse box on the tinyrig panel. i took it off in preparation to wire in my circuits.

That is a very generous offer thank you.
I managed to contact Ignition just now and they have filters. Looks like a trip to Brisbane tomorrow morning. I'll load up on the other filters while I'm there.
