What did you do with your Grenadier today?

Wait until you run across all the Torx bits needed. 😂 You know these use metric tools, right?
I have all the torx bits. Haven't run into any problems with that working on the Grenadier. I'm good with metric, standard, and english (if you know, you know).

I've owned about 130 cars at this point in my life, the first decade was all 60's american cars, the last 40 years has been mostly european. Oddly, I've never run into square socket screws in all those vehicles. Not even on a Skoda or a Lada.

They were all over my Newmar Newaire - oh wait, those are Amish built too.

I've still got quite a few Whitworth tools around, even a handful of /32 somewhere.

Finally installed a number of small mods:

1. Octodyne led for the key slot - it works, super easy to install. No more scratching around in the dark.
2. dash cam - though, that's going to get rewired at some point when I figure out how I want to rewire the factory dual battery setup
3. tiny rig device holder - except for the silly square socket screws, a nice unit, I only have 67 Design bases right now, they aren't really meant to attach to a flat surface, will have to look at RAM mounts.
4. A Pillar grab handle on the drivers side - got the parts for the RHD vehicles from Warner. Super easy bolt-on, especially if the previous owner hasn't glued a tweeter in the bottom of the old A Pillar trim. Being basically lazy, and not really caring about stereos, I bolted the tweeter in behind the trim and didn't bother cutting the hole for it. Guarantee that I'll never notice and will forget it's even there.
5. DVA Mechanics set of 4 roof rails - super nice low profile crossbars. I don't really need a full roof rack, so the crossbars are a nice alternative.

The big downside, for me, with the DVA crossbars, is that with 4 of them, the rear ones attach in the exact point where I want to put the DVA brackets to hold my 4gal Rotopax over both rear windows. I can mount the Rotopax flat on the roof like I had with the land cruiser, or I can remove the rear two crossbars. Haven't decided yet, but an interesting thing to note for anyone else considering DVA Crossbars and the DVA vertical rear window mounts. They're all nicely made, too many tiny effing screws though, but other than that, nice gear.

Gave the grenadier sunglasses

Added Buzz Overland Rockslider Steps. Very helpful for my wife! She also drove it for the first time today and I’m worried she’s going to want to commandeer it regularly…

Replaced the rear brake pads at 41400 miles. Piece of cake of a job; the pads were $39 from trodo.com.
All it takes is a long 8-mm Allen, lug wrench, and Harbor Freight brake caliper tool set. It doesn't hurt to have antiseize paste at hand, but y'all know that.

The pads were down to 4-5mm, far from worn out, but the brake wear sensor was about to go off.

Was that your first replacement? Trying to get a feel for brake life. Thanks!

More fiddling and testing to sort out the false positives from the inner front parking sensors.

Its primarily heat related with the problem only occurring once the temperature goes above 30deg. The dealer recently eased the holes slightly as Ineos believed that the sensors were getting ever so slightly pinched as the metal bumper expanded,

However when I flip up the number plate it stops, Currently I've bent the lower corners of the number plate in slightly and will see how that goes.

Frontrunner storage system and four wolfpac pro boxes, Rola ridge roofrack and my old ARB awning installed now.
It’s starting to feel like a proper tourer a little now. I still don’t have a fridge solution to either keep my 60L engel or go another option, but I’ll work on that.
Trip down to the storage shed this morning to grab the swag, camp chair, camping car box and assorted bits ready for my annual 2,500k trip to meet up with 4wd mates from three states next weekend. Will spend the trip home as usual traveling inland NSW to check out how the country is looking and travel back roads I haven’t done before to tick them off the list.
I’ve been interstate for work more often than home over the past couple of months, including a trip to Victoria this coming week as well, so I’m looking forward to a bit if a break.

Got round 1 of my lighting installs completed today :

Front roof rack light bar (Ext 2)
Side & rear camp lights (Ext 3 + rear driver side external switch)
Rear warning lights (Ext 3 + rear passenger side external switch)

& only because tis the season - roof rack Christmas lights (battery - as I couldn’t find a set with DTP connectors for front drivers side !)

Round 2 will be to add ditch lights, aux reverse lights & rock lights.
