@yellowdog I would say there is a large contingency that fall into your category- head vs heart .. not for nothing but do y’all think that Land Rover changed the engine in the base 130 to a turbo inline 6 from the turbo supercharged hybrid to pull some of us old Land Rover fan boys back their way?

Surveying the many cars I've owned in the past, the one that I had the most ownership satisfaction was a 2015 JKU Wrangler. It had half doors, leaks, horrible road manners on the highway, really noisy, and build quality was questionable. But I loved it and loved tinkering with it. I usually get an itch for something else after 2 years. Not so with the Jeep. For me, cars need to have character/soul. My 2022 Mercedes E53 was a fine piece of German engineering, but felt soulless to me and lacked character. My LC200 is super reliable, quiet, with great family trip memories and so iconic. Very similar in ownership satisfaction but the experience was very different from the Jeep.

I've noticed this in my vehicle too...some vibration coming through the gas pedal as well. Take your foot off the gas and it goes away but as soon as you push the accelerator the vibration and resonance is back. Above 70 it's pretty much gone
I had a similar issue on my D2 with a fresh set of Cooper AT3 tires. The tires “hummed” around the 60-65 mph and caused a vibration felt on the steering wheel and throughout the truck. Once above 70ish it went away. The vibration went away completely after the tires wore down a bit. Any chance this vibration you and others are feeling is coming from the tires? In physics I believe it’s called harmonic resonance?

I'm familiar with tire buzzing. Definitely not the case here. It's associated with throttle at that speed. I'm 99% sure it's exhaust drone.

We'll see - I'm still trying to sort out while my wife is telling me to buy a G wagon so she can ride in it too - so two different approaches and two very different vehicles
We have always joked about a Gwagen for my wife. While we like them in a general sense, they literally make no sense for us. :ROFLMAO:

Not a tire issue that I could tell
The numerous heat shields can cause vibrations at certain RPMs, this has been discussed extensively on this forum. Putting a slight bend in the edge of the shields has resolved these issues for many.

If the vehicle does not make you smile every time you get in it’s not the car for you.

Exactly, 100%.

It makes me smile, every time. Every journey, no matter how mundane the purpose, is an event.

It’s like a classic or a supercar or just something “special”. I have a mk2 escort fun car that does exactly the same thing, 99% of people wouldn’t “get” it but it’s a similar feeling of something with a specific focus and purpose that it does very well and always feels an event to drive.

A modern hot hatch would be miles faster and way more practical/comfortable/usable but that’s not the point.

I

I feel very similar, lots of time and emotions invested over the past few years...and I'm still excited when I see the new delivery pics. But my recent demo drive brought to light some of the things that would not meet my family's use (replacing a LR4), and I already have an old 110 ulititarian weekend toy. I'm also 6hrs from a dealer which further complicates the early adoption phase with the growing list of quibbles needing software tweaks. I'm waiting for the delivery call but am leaning towards wanting to see how things evolve over the next year or so. It makes me sad to even type this...lol!

Best of luck in your decision!
You and me baby!!! I echo your feeling and emotions!

I think it is exhaust drone as well, not fantastic but no different then many vehicles I have owned and doesnt bother me. The trucking thinking driving better now then when I picked it up last week. Up to 1200 miles now and some of the tire noise is down and the front end doesn’t seem to wander nearly as much as it did last week. Overall I am liking it more and more every time I get in it. I do need some grab handles in the back as I had to help my mom in today heading to lunch. I found I don’t miss the sunglass holder at all as there are 10 great places to hang them overhead. I will say the dual air would be nice. My wife is of an age now that the temp swings from ice cold to fire hot and the AC moves accordingly. Had to have been 30deg F driving through a blizzard (ok light snow) the other day. Everyone was freezing but her.

Ah yes - have to love those 'changes of seasons' with the wives. My wife was always too cold - then as soon as the Big M hit, she was too hot - I was the happiest guy in the world when I was able to crank the AC at night below 78!!
