You have to dissasemble the console.

"You have to dissasemble the console."

To the same extent that you would if you were replacing the "cup holder" trim from the above link?
Or is there more involved for the shifter?

Hypothetically, if I wanted to drive around with no cover on the console (as in your above picture), could I swap between shifters with only a couple screws and a connector?
Is it ONLY the trim that prevents this quick and easy swap?

Hi there. Just done my UK RHD shifter swap today. Took 2 months to come from Toyota £275.00. Overall took 20 minutes including stripping the new one. The ribbon going through in the new one was a bit fiddly but a bent paperclip hook & patience soon sorted. Easy DIY job at home. Delicate on the ribbon. Thanks to Owl on YouTube. No looks like it should from the factory......Ineos..........

Hi Rus
Any feedback with the reverse button being on the other side? Does it still feel natural to you?

No. Removing the shifter trim, control module trim and cup holder involves removing 12 m4 screws and removing the plastics. This does not allow access to the shifter.

Done with mine. Love it. As I suspected, the volume knob is easier to access. And btw it does glow amber at night. Got the old one back together with no damage. I used a panel tool after using my nails to create a small gap enough to fit in. Only additional advice I have is to fish the tape connector through before you seat the new shifter on the Gren's base. I used a toothpick to help it along. Thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread.
