Stuck at Cape York

A very interesting comment appeared on the John Canny YouTube video that showed the trucks wading the river. The author claims to have spoken to individuals that were on the trip and that the group is basically coving up what actually happened to help the owner collect insurance. It does explain why we haven’t heard from anyone on that trip here on the forums.

Gotta say that if this is true then I hope Mr. Canny gets a good serving of karma.

There is going to be some interesting politics at that club and guessing some new by-laws to be voted on.

The next monthly meeting is tonight... I'm expecting the usual calm, thoughtful and good natured discussion 👍.
Don't rush the complimentary wheel of cheese 😁

Its interesting that all the pics put up show the Grenadiers leaning to the right where the intake is. So, if one was faced with a similar crossing and had no other way around, having observed the first crossings would it have been wiser to do the crossing in reverse and have the intake on the higher side? I appreciate there may be challenges in terms of the gearing but reverse is a low gear anyway???
The vehicle in question is/was the lead vehicle in the group, well, that was what was mentioned several times in the video.
He's released another video with a little bit of a backpedalling (little bit for JC)

I can’t bear to watch it as I find him annoying

I had never heard of this fella until his first diatribe on the incident was posted here yesterday, but having watched that and his follow up in their entirety all I can say is if it generates enough followers to monetise amounts as suggested good luck to him. He has an irritating delivery so I won't be subscribing to his channel.

I've come across many of his videos but never watched one - for some reason YTers always have a stupid looking face in their preview and I just can't. But start combing through random YT accounts and you will see what I mean. I made a point of that on this forum once and people wigged out some, but it's true.

Secondly - being annoying and whiny and bombastic makes perfect clickbait.

The exaggerated faces on the YT previews have kept in over time, I generally make a point of avoiding them when scrolling through YT and only watched that one out of idle curiosity as it was part of this convoluted thread. I should have known better, I actually had a hard job staying awake all the way through, even when he used phrases about cultism and beard stroking imbeciles was it? It's probably a cultural thing but will continue to stick with the likes of Harry's Garage & Harry's Farm.

I think the wise person would find another route, or, if it was a matter of life and death and there was no other route, open the bonnet and improvise a sealed inlet from roof level to turbo bypassing the stock induction system and air box.

Or at least do some preparation for the water crossing.

They walked the river, they guided the cars through but the Canny videos show no prep for the deep water and none had a sealed snorkel. I call it water roulette, because every so often the engine goes BANG:

You don't even have to be wise.

If somebody googled "what preparation is needed for Cape York?"

The first item on the list will always include the word snorkel.
