So, knowing what you know, would you buy it again?

Yeah nah… after watching our local dealer destroy any confidence and now we are in for a change, who knows, I don’t think Ineos are overly serious about supporting their customers. The service reset is just one of several simple ridiculous issues etc…
They messaged me today to let me know if I still wanted the door buttons replaced under warranty, I need to do so now or they will send them back, this was after explaining several times I am away and my vehicle cannot be driven due to the failed driveshaft boot, and them telling my wife to drive it in 130kms… maybe it will make it maybe it won’t… their reply…

So after spending the best part of today under the vehicle fixing the unfixable so far driveshaft issue, as the above dealer won’t acknowledge a problem, to me at least it’s not the vehicle it was meant to be, any large purpose built 4WD should easily handle a simple heavy duty mild suspension lift and tyres. But as we know even non lifted are failing increasingly.

Shame as for the most part it’s a great thought and concept, in 2022 I was going to pull the trigger on a full Ashcroft/M57 swap etc… on my Puma but went with the Ineos after waiting to see and drive one, was impressed and still am but you know what you know and no one knows these… and as they age I don’t think they will be known any better.

As a long term Landrover owner I was always aware of the odd breakdown, but I was never stopped without a solution, and to be honest I am not as limber as I once was so the fix is not as fun as it once was.

Anyway will see if anyone comes up with some solutions, if anything it will maybe be collectable…
 
Without hesitation. Maybe a different color, maybe but spec'd the way I have it. Unless portal axles were a reasonable option, then would probably add those.
 
Yes, but...

I love my Grenadier. I really do. It is fun to drive, it feels invincible (even if it is not), it looks great, it is unique, and it is full of character.

However, it could not be my only vehicle. If I could have only one vehicle, it would have to be a full-size pickup truck with a standard-size bed (6.5 feet). My Grenadier is more of a toy, a secondary vehicle (though it is good at towing our pontoon boat).

Fortunately, my wife drives a full-size pickup truck (a 2025 GMC Sierra Denali with a proper 6.2 liter normally aspirated V-8), and I can borrow her truck when I need it (which is, frankly, quite often as we regularly haul lumber, plywood, soil, gravel, plants etc.). We also use her truck for long highway drives, as it is more comfortable and quieter than the Grenadier.

I did consider the Quartermaster, but its bed is simply too small. It is more of a "lifestyle" truck than a proper working truck (at least the kind that we need).

We have had several of the 6.2 liter V-8s over the years. If there is ever a problem (and there never has been), we will have it sorted under warranty. (I think the problems have been fixed for the 2025s.)
 
Yes definitely. However, having moved home to the wilds of Scotland, I want them to get on with a more widespread service network and a working OBD scanner to cancel codes (including oil change). I weas encouraged by the latest interview on the Podcast with Lynn.

6 months into ownership I would have said yes . Today at 13+ months and 17,500 miles I would tell you no. I was just in for service and my dealer asked me how I am liking it and I told him it depends on the day you ask me. Some days I still love it and some days I f#@king hate the thing.

I still don’t regret the purchase. Not every decision I make will be a home run and I was hell bent on buying a grenadier. I also don’t plan to get rid of it yet even though I am shopping for a replacement daily driver. But would I do it again knowing what I know now. Hell no! Nor would I suggest someone treat it as a daily driver.

Ultimately I am disappointed by what was delivered at its pricepoint. And since the honeymoon phase is over for me I’m a little more open about not being happy with my purchase. Life throws enough curve balls as it that I’d just prefer a simpler, more predictable, more reliable daily driver. I don’t find the quirks or “character” entertaining nor do I think they should be a part of modern automobiles. I absolutely love the aesthetic but agree with another commenter that this shouldn’t be a daily driver and is more of a toy. You not only have to have the means to afford such a car but also to keep up with it being high maintenance like a Land Rover or jag. And in addition to deep pockets you better have even more patience. For me it wasn’t the right choice now that I have over a year of ownership to look back upon.

Issues I’ve experienced (some fixed or improved and others not); the majority confirmed by reading other experiences and comments in this forum:
- infotainment
- HVAC
- Leaking - water intrusion
- Power steering pump noise
- raised air intake has come disconnected twice
- Leaky power steering reservoir
- break squeal
- lack of shop manuals - readily available
- return to dealer for simplest of things like TPMS or service reminder reset
- distance to dealer has become a bigger inconvenience than I suspected. The vehicle requires a lot of fiddling so being close to a dealer should be a priority but I think that point is missed by a lot of buyers; or at least it was by me. I’m only 90 minutes away but realize I’d never do that again for a vehicle. It’s 3 hours there and back to drop off and get a loaner. Then another 3 hours when I return the following day. I try to get as many issues addressed each visit because it’s far away so I either sit all day or get a loaner. In either case it’s become a huge inconvenience.
- dealer service dept stole cash out of my center console during my last service appointment
- front driveshaft angles are something that can’t be fixed without major modification. Ie cut and turn
- Lack of sound deadening making for a loud interior - especially an empty cargo area
- strong vibration throughout vehicle when at stop light - motor mounts now broken in
- Random parking sensor alerts
- 3rd windshield replacement in 1 year
- random broken cargo glass - glass in general on this vehicle seems very susceptible to damage
- there’s more I’m forgetting. Meh!

I agree with you on every issue, I really don't like the extremely poor engine power. I think a DINAN sport tuner is a required item to live with the horrible engine performance.
I would not buy again. I do like my car buy not fully happy at all. If I had to do it again, I would buy a Mercedes G Wagon for the perfect engine HP, doesn't feel like a giant cobble-stone. The air-conditioned seats and the adaptive cruise control as well as the side safety notification. What was INEOS thinking to cut this out? I guess is saving money any way possible and they built a beautiful truck with so many cutouts to save a buck. In the long run it INEOS will suffer.

Ye Gods! How much power do you want? I know the US automotive experience is different to the UK, but the Grenadier has never struck me as slow, even when pulling 3500kg.

(To be fair, I have gone from 111bhp and 1915kg in a LR110CSW to a diesel Grenadier with 245bhp and 2815kg).

Plenty of power, and if I wanted to childishly chirp the tyres in the city, I would just press the throttle launch control button.
Are you towing a 5T motorhome?

Sorry not to be rude, but you have no clue. You need a bench mark. The Grenadier engine is so sluggish its a stone. Add the IOBox Pedal Tuner and the Dinan Sport Tuner and you will be in a M4 BMW. You will be blown away. You don't need 700hp, you can get that easily in Dinan Tuners, but why pay for something that is too much. 340Hp+ is fantastic and a 40 HP Torque is so much better. I would have gotten rid of the truck with how slow it is. My MPG's 18.9 less than 2K. It was 13mpg. My sisters husband has had 12 BMW's most had Dinan Tuner Chips going back to the 1990's no business does it better.
 
I guess to each their own, I didn't want just another luxury SUV. Cooling seats, automatic raising windows, adaptive cruise control, etc - are they on most modern vehicles? Sure but they add to complexity, number of sensors and more things to go wrong. I'd be happy without the front parking sensors. Maybe I've been driving SUVs and trucks too long and have low expectations. I've had my share of Range's and various cars from Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen, but perfectly content with the Grenny as a daily driver.
