I was really surprised when they told me they could do the update. Wasn't expected. I just mentioned I knew about it and at least needed the CEL Fuel fault cleared.
They did my CTEK hookup install if that's something you're interested in they did a very nice job and have the kinks worked out. Had them do that and the BD off road light upgrade kit from Agile since they were both involved projects.

A quick pic of my « communication » rig. The base holder is done in Belgium by D&G and offers creative possibilities. The mike from the IC-7100 (on top above the main screen) holds with a magnet. Both handheld devices hang with clips found on Amazon. If needed I can remove the center sign. Considering to add a holder for GPS on top at the far right. Let’s see.

I spoke with RDS a few weeks ago... the software update is being made available on a LIFO basis e.g. trucks with later build dates are eligible first it seems. No idea why, but they told me as of Memorial day that my late build 2024 was not yet eligible. I am going to new MN dealership 6/20 for an oil change (I always do one around 1K), fix the door hinge bolt I mangled when trying to install Buzz step, will see about SW update while I am there too.
What happened with the Buzz Overland step installation?

Driver side is on no problem, passenger still TBD. Stripped the one T50 that was over torqued and had a lot of paint on the head. Long story short I pulled it onto the shop floor at my office and two of the lead mechanics drilled out the head, which finally came loose after an hour, now we need to deal with the threaded portion that's still in there. Worst-case scenario it's go to dealer next week for an oil change I'll let them address it.

I do love the step on the driver side it's very well made and makes roof access a breeze (I'm 5'9"). Upside of the big headache with the broken bolt... general consensus of guys who build $500K+ equipment for a living is the Grenadier is built like a tank.

I was sure I'd strip one of them, so I opted for a small step stool that fits nicely on the BG cargo shelf and I can move it around as needed. Cheap $20 alternative. Doesn't look as cool, but more functional for me.

Did the same in my X5, very good low cost solution. For now I’ll just load everything on the driver side where the step’s installed ;)

I would have just gone step stool but main use for roof is recovery boards and skis, in either case getting solid footing for stool likely problematic. Bikes are going on the hitch with a 1up rack then fuel I’ll side mount or ladder mount.

I use mine mainly for packing up my awning, but comes in handy for washing the windshield, so learned moving it around was more important. I also regularly use the ladder to get up onto the roof to unpack and pack my RTT, so I still need the functionality and can't mount a bunch of stuff to the ladder.

Create Sleep Space: Three Seats + One Berth

1. Remove bottom cushion of rear 2/3rds seat (attachment only held by three screws).
2. Fold seatback of rear 2/3rds seat down flat.
3. Add 7 inch high storage boxes behind flat seatback.
4. Stack recovery and camping gear in front of, and level with, flat seatback.
5. Add 6 foot long mattress on top and get ready for bed.

Note: Storage boxes can be stacked on top of flat seatback when mattress is rolled up and out of the way.
How has this setup worked out for you?

The hardest part has been to creatively stack a folding camp table and other gear to “fill the gap” between the back of the front seat and the beginning of my sleep platform (aka: rear seatback folded flat). I do like that it is all modular in that I can move the 28 quart storage boxes (normally forming the back end of the platform) around as needed when I am not asleep!

Bolt out, Buzz Step installed! Took the master machinists at my office two hours and cost me a couple of cases of beer.

Will post some photos this weekend along with other projects I've managed to finish. Those include...
  • Buzz Steps
  • Leitner load bars (2x)
  • Overland Kitted folding Maxtrax mount (still TBD if that will work with spacing of load bars)
  • Agile BD S2 scene light kit w/ amber lens covers
  • Agile offroad light upgrade w/ amber lens covers
  • CTEK magnetic hookup mounted in headlamp surround
  • Escort Redline 360 and M2 Dashcam via Escort OBD2 power on Blendmount
I also have Overland Gear Guys working up a few "custom" projects for me should be arriving in next couple of weeks. They're adding a pocket to recovery board bag to hold leashes and locks, then instead of mesh they're making me their upper cargo net out of canvas to use as a cargo area cover. That's the one I am most excited about receiving should be here Monday.

Mike said he's supposed to be getting the software the week of 23'rd.
Mine goes in on the 25th - 12k service, so little other issues and the software update. Said they needed it for 2 days.

The one thing I've not seen here is the covering on the steering wheel is like bubbling off. Want it looked at before it gets worse.

Mine is 15k miles, non leather and its fine, for reference. Mine is going to in for a couple weeks, so I'm not concerned if the software is a week late. If'n I was you, I'd be tempted to reschedule, but, I'm clearly not local.

I forget Zimm is your’s a 24.1? I thought you picked up around the same time as me but wasn’t sure.

I just had service done last week because I needed brakes and couldn’t wait.
