Sentinel vs XLR 80 vs Linear 18 vs LP6

Currently contemplating which light to replace my factory auxiliary lights with. I know the sentinels and baja design lights are popular but would love to get some real world feedback on what's working well and what's not.

Based on the incredibly informative whitepaper by @parb I was able to determine the following 10 lux distances:

• Sentinel Elite 194.65m (beam spread at 10 lux unknown but likely higher than the rated 65 degrees)
• LP6 143.56m @136 degree beam spread
• XL-R 80 119.5m @62 degree beam spread

This tells me that the Sentinels offer the highest level of performance but something about permanently altering the grill has me hesitating. I do love the look, however. The author of the whitepaper ultimately chose the XLR80 but it was being supplemented by a roof mounted light bar which I prefer not to install. The XLR80s offer the least 10 lux distance but have the cleanest install that's fully reversible.

A few questions, what are people running for fog lights and is there anywhere low on the bumper to mount them?

With led technology becoming smaller and brighter, any chance of regret down the line from mounting the sentinels? if so, what brought you comfort to permanently alter the grill?

Are the XLR80s good enough to be a standalone front light or do they require supplemental lighting?

Are ditch lights mandatory? If not, do any of the above provide adequate cornering illumination? Obviously the LP6 but I find the look the be the least discreet.

Does the hidden 18" lazer / triple R light bar provide any functional value in addition to the above 3 besides aesthetics?

4wd is Life on youtube does a bunch of good comparisons of led lights.

I have the 5" Auxbeam fog lights and they are fine for me but they are not DOT approved. For fogs DOT approved is going to be more versatile. But I'm more of a low speed high drag offroad driver. At reasonable dirt road speeds your not going to out drive your lights.

You wont regret any good quality light unless you fell the need to constantly upgrade. A good light today will still be a good light tomorrow.

I don't care for ditch lights or roof mounted light bars. Too much reflection off of the vehicle. I'd rather have a bull bar and mount side shooters to that even though you loose some reach because of the lower mounting point.

The hidden 18" triple r lightbar is really good. That along with a set of fog lights and you would probably be happy.

Given its recessed location, does the Triple R light bar still have good UPWARDS beam spread (e.g. as you drive down into a gully, can you see well what is ahead and ABOVE for your inevitable climb out)?

I mounted mine centered on the bull bar.
