I have a three inch lift on mine and it failed at @ 11,000 miles…. No hard off-roading or adventure touring.Wonder when his front drive shaft will fail?
I had the small 1.7/1.2 lift and the CV circlip failed. Took off the lift to - hopefully - improve reliability.I have a three inch lift on mine and it failed at @ 11,000 miles…. No hard off-roading or adventure touring.
There is a massive difference in weight in half box and full box of your doing the Norweld deluxe, which I believe he is doing. The half box 353 with drawers versus 617 with drawers. Now if you do the basic empty, your looking at 234 versus 317.Watched the video about the half box. I would prefer a 3/4 or full canopy box. Ronny makes a good point about keeping the weight centered while driving on the more technical challenging trails. However, he is comparing it to the full box that is loaded to the gills for adventure touring. If he had stripped out all the adventure touring gear and kept the heavier items in the same location as the half box I think there would be very little change in off-road performance. I would bet there is less than 50 lbs difference between a full box versus the half box.
Thanks for the info. I’m pretty sure I’ll still go with a full version of the Couch box but it will be configured like your half box up front and empty on the back half to use for truck stuff… We get over 75” of rain here every year and I need too keep stuff dry. Love the idea of the spare tire underneath too. I wonder if it will work with a 35x11.5 tire that I’m now running. BTW - I’m running the 1000+lb springs in back and 250+lb up front. There is a massive difference in weight in half box and full box of your doing the Norweld deluxe, which I believe he is doing. Half box is the way to go, yes I am basis. But if I was doing nothing but touring and was never going to use my truck for truck things, then compact makes the most sense. What I love about my set up is the tire is now underneath. Where Ronny is in tub and you are eating up space. I have a full 3 feet in length and 6.2 inches in length plus similar dimensions in the box.
Looking at my CV angle with stock SW springs, I cannot even imagine 3-inch lift.I have a three inch lift on mine and it failed at @ 11,000 miles…. No hard off-roading or adventure touring.
I only get 74" of rain here in Kirkland. My set up for under tire can go to 35. The new exhaust set up limits going bigger. Plus at 37, might as go portals. Thanks for the info.
