IG Owners - What did you come from, and what do you think?

I must be the outlier here :) Coming from a Porsche Macan GTS, can't really compare as they are two different vehicles. The Macan is fantastic to drive, lots of creature comforts, but I wanted a fun winter and off-road vehicle as I have a Cayman S for the summer fun and track stuff.
Looking forward to overlanding and camping in the Rockies.

New IG Ordered and being PDI this week ordered to SPEC and very close to old one except front and rear lockers snorkel and winch, this is what I should have shown up 2.5 years ago long story, I was one of the first UK buyers to get the IG

I have been using a Defender 90 last few months 2009 model and whilst its iconic and not to offend the LRO world will be looking forward to getting back into a IG. Its a land rover thing I know and people love them. The IG is a different animal in every respect

I've had a long line of solid axle 4x4s for 30 plus years and prefer the old school pre mid 1990s trucks with actual selectors, knobs and switches.

The Grenadier was a no brainer for me and as close as I will get to those vehicles. I love it.

I traded in a custom build 2004 Dodge Dakota for my Quartermaster, so far in all reality it has been a lateral move for me in a lot of ways.
the upside is my new truck doesn't smell like an ashtray (yet) and is 100% reliable, the old Goat was starting to show it's age and quite frankly I was tired of working on it, 22 years as a low millage daily driver had started to take it's toll, not to mention the never ending rust.
shameless plug for my Youtube
the first video is mostly me being bitter, and sad

this is the introduction to the new truck, I ramble on and curse a lot

I traded in a 2024 Bronco Everglades. Not sure I made the right move. Had no issues with the Bronco. Grenadier failed front drive shaft on me and has me wondering about reliability.

just of of curiosity what was the failure? ripped boot? did you lift it? that was one of the perpetual issues with my Dakota, I put a 3" suspension lift on it and didn't want to spend the $300 for the extended front axels, the cost was that I was ripping CV boots all the time. I replaced both axels and both failed within 2000 miles. I finally just said "when it fully fails I will replace it with the longer ones" I traded the truck in before that happened.
I now have just over 1000 miles on my 2025 Quartermaster (it was a leftover) my only "issue" has been with the air conditioning having a mind of its own.
but, there is a few "work arounds" the simplest is to shut the truck off and turn it back on after allowing the system to "re boot" if that doesn't work you can turn turn the blend door to defrost and slowly ramp up the fan and push the blend door back. I think they redesigned the HVAC system for 2026.
It doesn't bother me as much as the occasional whistle out of it.
now that being said, a couple of years ago I had to pull the entire dash out of my Dakota to replace the AC evaporator
oh the other issue is the occasional lookie loo almost running into me trying to figure out what it is

I think taking it off-road might have pulled the circlip off which then cut a hole in the metal casing of the CV. The rubber boot was actually still intact. The grease was swung out through the hole the circlip made.
