Replaced the OEM plugs next to the wipers

I’m not sure if any other owners have experienced this but the 18mm locking plugs next to the windshield wipers keep falling out. Not so locking after all. I replaced them with 7/8” plugs from of all places ACE Hardware (USA). The new plugs won’t pop out, won’t be lost, won’t frustrate me. I did have to bore an ever so slightly bigger diameter hole. The new plugs can be removed.
All the best,
MM

Nice solution!!! I have not experienced any issues with them coming loose yet but I assume the plastic cowl/scuttle cover is the same part shared between both right LHD/RHD versions and the plastic plugs simply cover the holes for the unused wiper arm spindles locations? I haven't pulled the plugs out to inspect to see if there is anything behind them besides free air but will certainly keep this fix in mind if they ever decide to depart the vehicle. Either that, or I'll use a few dabs of black silicone on them now to hopefully keep them in place.

Posted this in the duplicate thread…..

These silicone versions have been working well also and go in without any mods. IIRC, the original recommendation from the forum was 19mm but I accidentally ordered the 18mm. The 18mm have stayed in place and were fussy enough to get in, I don’t think they’ll come out unless you get in there with a panel removal tool.
