Quick oil drain valve?

Has anyone fitted a quick oil drain valve, Fumoto or similar? Which one did you install? I never like anything extending down below the oil pan but somewhat more comfortable after installing Agile Offroad sump guard to protect it but a quick drain valve would also eliminate the need to remove the sump guard to change the oil every time.

I asked the same question and didn’t get much traction. I’ve been considering either Fumoto or AGA.


I’m thinking Fumoto might be the way to go if it’s going to be protected by a skid plate because it’s tool-less and a hose can be connected to poke through an opening in the skid plate.
 
I ordered the ValvoMax. Actually delivered just a few minutes ago. I've got 9,700 miles on it so I'll be swapping it out soon.
 
I have the Rival skid plates, and my oil change today was a little messy. I installed the ValvoMax today. No issues, seems to work, but only time will tell. I think the cap should be good enough. It is well built.

I installed the Valvomax today as well. Definitely pokes out without a skid plate but is definitely well made.

With your Rival, is there enough room to attach the nut/hose through the skid plate to release the oil?
 
The oil plug is so far up if you hit a fumoto valve you will have bigger issues. I put one in but admittedly it’s behind a skid plate.

No issues attaching the drain plug extension hose kit. You can either do it through the opening of the skid plate, or reach your hand around the side of the skid. It is very easy. For the first oil change, before installing the valve, I used two different size funnels. One that sat in the opening of the skid plate to run through the skid plate, and then under the skid plate to prevent splashing. This helped tremendously. The valvomax makes the job so much more easier because as you screw on the drain tube that comes with the kit, it releases the oil as you screw it on. I bought the inflatable cube containers to go with it which fit perfectly underneath the grenadier. Then I can drain the cubes into my oil catch container without any worries of splash or need for cleanup. They have those containers on their site as well.
 
I was checking out several versions on Amazon and found a quick disconnect that is also magnetic! It is made of stainless by DEEFILL M12 X 1.5 any input would be appreciated! Thanks
 
So I changed the oil today at 10,000 miles - 2nd change. Anyway, I put in the ValvoMax quick drain plug. It's kind of wonky shape/size, so I used a big open ended wrench to snug it up. In the process I somehow managed to short out something on or near the starter! Crackle and sparks, but I didn't feel anything. To say I was surprised would be a massive understatement!

Everything seems ok, it started fine and nothing seems unusual. 🙏 But without measuring, isn't the height of the starter less than the wading depth? Are uncovered hot terminals a great idea there?

I also managed to somehow pop loose the tether that holds the VavvoMax drain plug cover on and drop it into the old oil! It was just a fun morning all around. :ROFLMAO:🤬

You're not the first to do a bit of spot welding near the sump plug. Previously noted here.
As you discovered, the positive connection on the adjacent starter motor is not insulated. Presumably it's a standard BMW arrangement. Still weird tho'...

It's a nod to old Land Rovers 😁
That said, I cringe every exposed 12v terminal I see.
The aux battery positive was exposed in the early models and I covered it straight away.
Then later the IA TSB addressed the issue with a bespoke cover..
Starter motor terminal - you could slop some brushable electric tape over it.
