Hello all,

It has been about 5 months since we had Tiny Rig Co cut off the Roof of the Goose Gear Grenadier to install the Alu-Cab Silenus Roof Conversion.

But now, we are finally ready to begin posting and showing what we have done and why we did it the way we did. The why is where it is at for this build. Everything must function properly, be serviceable in the field and utilize tried and true systems. This is not our first interior, and we have had interiors of ours traveling the globe for many years. We have learned a great deal in working with the people we do. Dan Grec of @theroadchoseme on the IG and YouTube, had some feedback after living out of his Jeep build for almost two years with his wife and newborn child. Clay Croft of XOverland had a great point a few months back when we sat down after his trip to Africa that I had never thought about, but he, like Dan was correct. So, we have made adjustments to designs and processes going forward. As well as countless feedback from all of our customers over the past 11 years. When we select people, influencers, industry professionals to work with, we focus on working with the heaviest users and much prefer the most experienced users we can find. They have a lot to offer as you can imagine.

Ok, enough chit chat.

The focus must be reliability, usability, function, ease of maintenance and service. Not just in what we design for the storage solution, but in the products from other brands we incorporate into our finished product. You may choose other brands or other options for your build and there is nothing wrong with that. We wanted the kind of interior you will take around the globe for years and be worry free. Or at least as worry free as you can be.

We opted for water fittings and components from Whale Marine. I have used their products for the past 7 years without fail. Our sink is from Ambassador Marine, not cheap, but great quality. Electrical system features @GPFACTOR RedArc BCDC Alpha Mount and the RedArc Alpha 150ah Lithium Battery and mounting bracket from GP Factor as well. Blue Sea Systems Weatherdeck Analog Switch, Powerwerx Master Switch and High-Power USB Ports. National Luna fridge and lighting.

1. Water
  • Hot Water Heater by Whale Marine
  • Located directly below the sink and shower controls = less loss of water waiting for the hot water to get to the tap.
  • Low power consumption - only 5ah to heat water 30 degrees Fahrenheit in about 8 minutes.
  • Retains hot water for up to 10 hours.
  • 3 Gallon Capacity, plenty for dishes and showers.
  • All aluminum design - weighs only 12 pounds
  • Whale Marine Water Pump with Pressure Balance Tank
  • Whale Marine fittings and pipe used everywhere possible.
  • Water storage - Two 20 liter Scepter Cans, Approx 10 gallons. Easily accessed from LH Rear Pass door. This allows the user to take the tanks our for easy cleaning and filling at any time.
  • Total water capacity 13 gallons. We are considering a water storage module that will accept 3 cans for 18 total gallons on board.
  • Amabassador Marine Stainless Steel sink
  • Scandvik Premium water faucet, not a cheap imitation unit.
  • Exterior Shower accessible via LH Rear Quarter Window Gull Wing Window
2. Refrigeration
  • National Luna QC50 Dual Zone in our build - smaller and lighter with great features.
  • Our refrigerator space will accommodate several brands of refers up to 90 liters
  • Fridge access is from the RH pass door or inside the vehicle and is as low as possible for better center of gravity
  • The fridge doubles as a seat and is similar in height to the RH bench and drawer module.
3. Electrical System
  • RedArc Alpha 50 BCDC Battery and Solar Controller - Using GP Factor Mounting Bracket
  • RedArc Alpha 150ah Lithium battery in factory second battery location - Using GP Factor Mounting Bracket
  • Powerwerx Hi Output USB Ports (2)
  • Powerwerx 60 amp Main Power Cutoff
  • Blue Sea Sytems - Weatherdeck Analog Switch with resettable circuit breakers.
    • Power Control for the following
    • Water pump
    • Water Heater
    • USB Ports
    • In Cabinet Light
4. Air Heater - At this time, we have not installed a heater in the vehicle. But if we do, it will most likely end up in the Kitchen Module or the second-row foot well.

5. Goose Gear - Venture Series Plates and Modules - Roof Conversion Interior (RCI)
  • Venture Series - Rear Base Plate System SKU 1897 this is a new design for the RCI Interior. The original design is completely compatible with the RCI. 27 pounds (12.3kg)
    • What's Different?
      • Revised anchor points - we added two additional anchor points into the new design. These additional anchor points can easily be added to existing base plates but are not necessary.
  • Venture Series - Second Row Delete Plate System SKU 1894 this is also a new design for the RCI Interior. The original is also completely compatible with the RCI. 42 pounds (19kg)
    • What's different?
      • Revised anchor points around perimeter.
      • Removed the front overhand and shortened the top plate for better access to the storage space behind the front seats.
      • Removed the side overhangs and relocated anchor points.
      • Added ventilation holes to side and front support legs. We have never had any heat issues, but with the RedArc Alpha charger and its rapid recharge capacity we wanted to err on the side of safety and performance.
    • What to do if you already have the second row delete original design and plan on installing the GG RCI? Contact us directly and we will work out a credit towards the new design. This applies to original purchasers only and is a one-time deal. Why are we doing this? Because I said in the beginning of the second row delete that I would make sure that someone that bought a plate in the early stages would have something that works with the RCI when we offered it, and it does. But the new design is far superior for an RCI and I would prefer that people get the best option if they are building a complete rig. It's just the right thing to do IMO. For the rear plate, we will simply provide some additional anchors that the end user can install to bring their plate up to snuff.
  • RH Drawer Module and Bench Seat 82 pounds (37.2kg)
    • Integrated grab handle in the end of the bench for easier ingress and egress.
    • Lockable compression latch
    • Extra Large Drawer - Accuride 36" Guides with Lock In / Lock Out function
      • Keeps drawer safely open on an incline
      • Provides extra strength when the drawer is closed
    • Interior access to drawer is available through two lockable lift doors in seat top with vehicle doors closed - these lift doors feature user adjustable friction hinges so that you set it so the doors will stay open under their own power and not come crashing down if you let go.
    • Serves as a comfortable bench seat for two people
    • Seat Height is taller than standard seating height to allow view from tent windows when they are zipped open.
    • Serves as an anchor point for the Lagun Table Mount
    • Lower section below drawer allows access from the rear of the vehicle with doors open for longer items such as chairs or access from the interior walkway and is sized perfectly for two Step 22 Stingray Flat Boxes
    • Up to two interior drawer inserts - this is a new design that I am excited about. Shallow trays that rest on shoulders within the drawer module for shallow storage.
    • Molle Panel at rear of module, front upper side and optional lower front end. Allows easy attachment of molle compatible bags for additional easy access. We have a bag between the end of the drawer module and the fridge for headlamps, batteries and portable lights. Quick easy and always where you need them.
    • At the rear quarter window, we installed a hinged lift door for additional storage, we keep our Force Protector Gear tarp poles in this space, and it works out perfectly.
  • LH Sink Storage Module 78 pounds (35.4kg)
    • Integrated grab handle in the end of the module for easier ingress and egress
    • Lockable compression latches
    • Quick disconnect hinges for each door allows better access to electrical and water systems for on the road service.
    • Water heater and water pump can be removed and serviced without removing the module.
    • One drawer next to the sink at the top of the module. 16" Accuride Lock in and Lock out drawer guides
    • Drawer top tray like in the RH drawer module and bench seat for additional storage options.
    • Open Shelves below the sink and drawer feature easily removable shelf bottoms for superior access to the water and electrical systems for maintenance.
    • Additional open face cubby also serves as a footrest for shorter people sitting on the drawer bench seat
    • Rear End features a recessed molle panel and end cubby pocket at the top for smaller items. We keep our extra batteries and window screens for easy access.
    • Rear end panel also serves as a location for the Lagun Table to store while off roading.
    • Sink Drainage flows through LH inner fender well and towards the rear of the vehicle for times when you must have a catch can for gray water
  • LH Water Storage Module 32 pounds (14.5kg)
    • Storage space for two Scepter 20-liter water cans
    • Open Storage above water storage with access from inside and outside of vehicle - we plan on storing our blanket in this location since it cannot remain in the bedding area with the roof closed
    • Front Low storage compartment with bungee cords for smaller items, we plan on storing our Force Protector Gear awning kit in this location.
    • Front face behind LH Front Seat is molle panel compatible and allows for the addition of many types of bags etc.
    • Shelf below molle panel is where we will mount our fire extinguisher for easy access inside and outside of the vehicle.
Total weight of the plates and the interior modules is 261 pounds (118.4kg)
Weight of factory second row seat and other interior bits removed is 136 pounds (61.7kg)
Net Gain of Interior System is only 125 pounds (56.7kg) - Not including the water heater, water pump or water cans. They add approximately 33 pounds (15kg) empty.

We will be offering a complete package price for the interior with and without base plates as many already own the bases plates. Additionally, we will be offering the modules with or without the water and power systems. We have photos being edited now and I will post them to this thread in the next day or so. Thank you for reading this far.

Excellent write up. What is the brand of the Gullwing used?

Does something detach from the left side rear, like a Table. Two pictures of that section are different.

Please tell me you are bringing this to Moab. I would love to see this in person! Great job! This is all starting to remind me of Westfalia conversions for the VW Bus.

Unfortunately it is the same weekend as Overland Expo East and the rig will be in Virginia.

What do you think of it? Quality, finish, fit, etc
I ran their product on my 60 series Land Cruiser and had zero issues. Plus I prefer the full door look of the emu product rather than what looks like a hatch on the surface like most others. There are pros and cons to both. But I prefer emu and didn’t hesitate to order it.
