I saw this the other day, and I was thinking about it yesterday while driving at high speed, in the dark, on the freeway, in torrential rain. The Grenadier did very well, but I wonder how much better it might do with this upgrade…

Thoughts?

This looks really interesting - seems like USA only at the moment, but it is a start. I also assume that this will do nothing about steering whine - but as quattroa4m says, more information would be helpful !! Maybe something you do outside of warranty period too ??!!

The picture shows steering pump. The shop photos also show no work anywhere near the steering box.

Maybe I’m misunderstanding, but I’m curious why they’re referring to the power steering pump as the “box.”

If the actual steering box still has a slow ratio and there isn’t much caster built in, I’m not sure how much changing the pump pressure and run time would affect how it drives on the road. I can see how increased pressure and a constantly active pump could offer advantages in certain off-road situations, but I’d be cautious about expecting noticeable improvements in on-road steering feel or behavior.

Interesting indeed. It would be nice for John from Owl Vans to chime in on this product or show it off on his YouTube channel. That would be great.

If this fixes the steering whine, it will fix most of my whining about the IG. I have to think that it doesn't otherwise I'd think that would be the first sentence and major sell. But if it doesn't fix the whine, I'm thinking nothing will.... Not a steering box?

It's been updated to say steering pump.
Not sure how this fixes anything unless they are also remapping the speed adjustments to power steering (which they can do in the box).

So the lack of return to center is due to the pump? If this does everything they claim and that's what someone wants, awesome. The two issues I have, are RTC which I'm still assuming is caster, which I don't know how software remapping fixes it, but, hey, I'm a bit oblivious to much of modern cars and maybe they can program the pump to do something. And the other is the lock to lock, which I'm still assuming has something to do with the high ratio of the steering ball unit, and it therefore running out of OEM recommended wheel input before the knuckle hits lock.

I look forward to the reviews.

Curious who they're buying the pumps from, possibly direct from the manufacture?
Does not fit QM. I would not of expected the QM and wagon pumps to be different. If that is the case there may be differences between petrol and diesel steer pumps as well.

I’m almost in if it fixes the pump screech. That would shut up my IG and my wife who complains about the noise. The thing is that those kinds of pumps all make noise. Even the ones on the JL jeeps. So, how much quieter is it is my question. I was hoping for something closer to $1000 or under, but here we are.
