I have not seen anyone recommend this, but think I saw this in at least one YouTube video (but they did not call it out). I had some reservations about the ladder's surface finish not being "grippy", especially if attempting to climb them with wet shoes or when the ladder is wet. I ordered some skateboard deck grip tape, cut them into specific width and lengths to wrap around the steps. I am pleased to report that these offer tremendous grip. I am sure that they will be a pain to wash as any sponge will grab onto the tape. Other than that, it is a simple fix that will definitely make it that much safer when climbing the ladder.

There are lots of folks on here with an assortment of grip tape on the ladder rungs... I used 3M GripWalk on mine, and you're completely right, washing it is a huge pain (enough so that I only "scrub" the vertical parts of the ladder

Leave the wash suds to do their thing then a quick scrub with a brush used for cleaning wheels cleans the tape "tout de suite"!😉

I used Gorilla tape and they have remained ''as new" for over 18 months. many trips up onto the roof , in various types of footwear.
IMO tape is essential , if you don't want to end up in an orthopaedic or neurosurgical ward!
I never bother scrubbing them.
