Looks like we have choices in US for Diff Skid Plates

I called them yesterday and could not get a commitment to any of our above concerns. No confirmation or denial of install woes, ease, or time. No comment on shipping estimate, even though I was first order. No validated response that these were even in stock in Anaheim location, or at all, yet. No acknowledgment of why it’s 2 weeks in packaging, if they are completed and ready, especially since I ordered raw with UHMW. Too many unknowns for the price and potential annoyances when installing in my garage… I’ll wait it out. I cancelled.

I feel like you got the real answers- as in this is pretty new and there are launch and teething/communication problems. I asked about what type of service would require removal, but I haven’t heard back, but it’s been less than 24 hours.

Red Noland has some off road training dates set for early June that I was hoping to be able to hit (knowing that was unlikely).

Imagine back when there was no internet, and we would have had to read about this in some obscure 4x4 magazine, or word of mouth. Now they make a video and have orders before the welds have cooled…

I wouldn't skip a training event just because you don't have skids unless you were planning on doing some very advanced routes; doing level 3/4 trails in Moab for the Grenadier Gathering there wasn't a single moment that I wished I had aftermarket skids

MileHigh,

I have been on several of the Red Noland events and you do not need skid plates for your Grenadier! They are super fun events! We are trying to head out on the 201 outing as we have done the 101 version a couple of times and the Winterfest they did at the beginning of the year. You definitely do not need skid plates!

Looking at the 12 Jun event for 201.

If you need an extra set of hands or at the very least a cheering section, I'd be willing to help out with the instal to get an idea of what's involved.

My comment about the new X member wasn't properly fleshed out. Yes, it might get in the way of some access, but probably not much more than the standard one. What I was thinking more is that getting off the old one and putting on the new one won't be included in taking off the skid plate if needed. Also, once the plastic filets are attached, they would probably stay attached and that would be less time. So, some oddities on install that probably won't be applicable for taking it down if needed for maintenance. I would assume that for most mundane work, the skid can stay in place, I just want to make sure.
@MileHigh I'll definitely keep that in mind! I love wrenching parties!

I’ve done the 101 and there was only one time I was slightly worried about not having rock rails, but Tom took good care of us. I have rock rails now and I’m sure that’s enough. I just really wanted to have it done by then.

And show off. Hopefully by not letting people see the skid plates too easily.

Me too! The FIRST two things I have done on just about every off road vehicle I have owned is to first get rock sliders and then skid plates. Unfortunately for me there wasn't really an option I seriously considered until I saw the Owl solution.

Seeing that the Owl skids are BRAND SPANKIN' new I cut them some slack on the lack of instructions for now. Moto, from Owl, indicated that they will have the instructions by the time I get the skid plates. Knowing several folks that have worked with Owl and have spent time with them ( @ForceV4 for one ) I have zero issues shelling out the funds for the plates and UHMW "covers" for lack of a better term.

ColoradoMike - I was going to go on one of the 201 trips, reserved June 12. But Thom sent some pictures and its is a lot of burn scar, so I cancelled.

Yeah that area to the gulches and such are from the Hayman fire back in 2002. I wheel there a ton and it is FUN! Scenic stuff is there but not like on other trails in the area.
