Leaking diff this morning

Wow just wow, every time and I do mean every time I decide no Ineos is going in the right direction I will buy one this kind of crap pops up, you just couldn’t make this crap up..
Oil leaks special tools that nobody has and 600 nm on a hub nut
The comment above sums it up in one word UNBELIEVABLE
If you had to do it yourself you could with the right size socket, torque multiplier and torque wrench. The 600Nm torque or higher would be routine on large truck and tractor wheels I guess. Just that when this is done as a warranty repair they have to do it with Ineos approved kit I guess .

Very normal on heavy equipment. A 3/4" drive Tourqe wrench will do alot more than that.

I thought you'd be into a 1" for accuracy there. my 3/4 maxes at 600, and being at max isnt generally accurate. ... so the axle needs a 2000 buck wrnch for us shade tree's. nice.

Meh, harbor freight sells cheap 1" digital torque meters that go inline. Grab a decent 1" breaker bar and you are set. 600NM is only 442ftlbs.

Agree with respect to your comment that this kind of stuff should not happen in such a vehicle, regardless how new to the market.

600Nm: The rear wheel bearing nut on my '88 VW T3 camper needs 500. Not a big deal; At a weight of ~70kg, step on a ~70cm lever and Bingo: You have 500Nm with no effort at all. I suggested this a few days earlier here for a similar case. So, 600 should be no problem either. Most folks around here are more than 70kg I suspect ;-)

IMO, the real problem is that f*~#ing special tool. I suspect If one would only collect all the _basic_ special tools (like the one for the axle nut), >50kg of weight would result. Not mentioning that missing diagnosis tool here...

The UK is not like Australia. You can send a parcel for a pre 9am delivery next day virtually everywhere.

I think that's just light reflecting off. But I will get a picture square off the side once it stops raining.

There is this other thing, definitely oil misting but no clear view of where it's coming from... View attachment 7907280
Doesn't appear to be coming from the pinion seal. I'd get liberal amount of brake cleaner all over it, buff the sod up (and the axle end) drive around for 30mins and then see if more obvious where said leak(s) are originating from.

Hesitant to drive it the front left seems to squeal like a high pitched monkey, something down that end is under stress internally.
Well noted. Presume you are located a fair distance from any IA service centre like the majority of us?

Have you checked the diff oil level? Is the wheel bearing ok/any lateral movement in the wheel ?

havent yet, will get it on the jack this weekend and see. going to try and get a dealer slot booked in as well. There is definitely a lot more oil on the ground today than there was yesterday

In that case, beat it so they have to replace the entire unit.
