Build Thread Kristina’s Build - Snuffleupagus

Awesome! Concerning the engine air filter - Correct.

I’m unable to convince myself that an oil based multi-layer foam filter is actually safe to filter input air for the compressor on this vehicle.

Oil entering the turbo intake seems like a very bad idea…

Certainly a valid concern! One thing to note, that side of the compressor inlet takes in blowby oil from the crankcase ventilation system. I just had my intake open last night and there's a light coating of oil inside the compressor outlet and charge pipe. This is normal for all engines and turbos. It's also why many install oil catch cans onto similar vehicles, which I may do down the line as I find a suitable kit (likely from a Toyota Supra application).

Read: this is oil vapor in the intake tract, not oil from the center cartridge, that's a huge problem!

Having an oiled filter is okay-ish, mostly a concern for the mass air flow MAF sensor if the filter is over-oiled after cleaning and re-oiling, which can be rectified by cleaning the sensor, but would rather not do.

The B57 diesel has one already; anyone check to see if the B58 is similarly equipped ex factory?

The thread on the Hengst "disc separator" is here. Hengst certainly make a petrol version, whether the INEOS has it is the question. AU diesel models have it.
