High Temp Coolant Reservoir crystals

I assume not normal and needs to be replaced? I didn't see anything below the box, but I was over a gallon low on coolant which I think was more related to a factory under fill

If its got evidence of coolant leaking around the plastic tanks then they should be replaced under warranty.
You heating will improve but keep checking levels and topping up as required and it will be 'nearly normal '

This is covered at length elsewhere on the forum. Splitting high pressure coolant reservoirs are a known problem on BMW and other engines using these components sourced from the same supplier. Mine was replaced about 4 weeks ago (@ 17000 km).

I had this same issue. I added almost a whole gallon of coolant. The dealer replaced the tank on the high pressure side. The new tank already has the residue on the seams. I keep a closer eye on the coolant level now.

My coolant level has been consistent since topping up after the dealer bleed procedure over a year ago. I have crystals forming at spot along the seam but not all the way around. I have it on my next dealer list, but I'm hoping for an aftermarket aluminum solution.
