What series u-joint is used in your driveshaft, 1310 or 1350?
I agree which is why I prefer sealed u-joints without a grease zerk. In my DC drive shafts it is always the centering ball that goes out first. The u-joints are often still in fine condition but if you are replacing the ball it is silly not to do the joints as well.Keep in mind rovers DC shaft was lifetime greased. I'm not suggesting anything specific, just pointing out that U joints can often go a very long time without renewing the grease. Same goes for the centering ball in a DC.

Try to avoid the four pops and a purge when changing a nappy.Brings a tear to the eye. Old school upkeep, like changing a nappy, a bit messy but you know it needs to be done from time to time!
