Driver window switch auto close

Hello team ,

I am not sure if i am just being pedantic at this point but here it goes .

It really annoys me the fact that the window switch will automatically lower the window all the way down but will not bring it all the way up and i have to sit there holding it .

I looked high and low for a solution but was unable to find a replacement switch that would work.

Anyone else finds this to be a problem? Anyone looked for a solution ??

It's not just a switch unfortunately.

The window actuator needs to have the additional smarts to know when the window has reached the upper limit of travel is reached and cut off the motor power. But it's even more complicated than that. It also needs to be pressure sensitive so if a finger, hand, pesky little sister's head (etc.) is obstructing the window it needs to have the logic and circuitry to detect that and reverse the direction of travel if contact is made. That's typically a mandatory safety requirement of auto-up windows.

I'm sure i recall Lynn Calder saying it required another micro chip (or more), to reach the required safety rules and as the plan was as few.as possible they hoped we could hold the switch long enough for the window to lift. It is really odd when you step out a modern vehicle and the window doesn't wind up on its own

It was a deliberate design choice and not a failure. Automatic "one-touch" close and soft close, (to avoid trapped or guillotined fingers), requires two extra processors or a custom unit, neither solution being seen as desirable, prior to formal type approval.

Your local auto electrician could probably make you an aftermarket conversion from industry wide components.

An upgrade for the Ineos Automotive ultra-luxury version in the future? (Not for me, I like my Grenadier as it is).

and the function is perfect, otherwise I could not use my ventilation blade on the back window

There are some aftermarket modules that could give you that.

However in the desire to reduce the number of computers and tech Ineos haven't fitted auto-reverse, a requirement to prevent fingers being crushed.

So the answer is yes, it can be done, but not really worth the investment .

Aghhhhh!
It is surprisingly difficult to convert a window from electric operation to manual!

Manual to electric is not too difficult, there are commercial kits applicable to most cars, but electric to manual can be a bear as you need a winder with enough mechanical advantage to make it easy to turn. Some of the window lifter motors produce quite high torque.
