Only that 2023 year model shouldn't get it. But they dont explain why the 2023 model is not getting it.
Some of the electronics were changed between MY23 and MY24 (not sure where the MY23.5 sits in terms of electronics), and they operate different versions of software. So, either Ineos have updated only MY24 software as a matter of choice, or it could be that the electronics on the MY23 cannot be changed easily (or cost effectively - back to choice again). It's also possible that the changes are only newer builds, and maybe not all MY24s will get it, as Ineos is not exactly following a typical MY update method. Plus, there are regional differences.

The german YouTube channel Abenteuer4X4 INEOS Grenadier showed the latest software update in a video. Seems so that we can turn the lockers back on again directly without steering wildly back and forth. Only that 2023 year model shouldn't get it. For what it's worth, my MY24 allows me to switch the diff lockers on/off without steering wildly; even when the light is flashing I can switch them on/off. The light flashing simply indicates that it has not detected whether it is locked or unlocked (based on wheel speed sensors), not whether or not it is actually locked

My MY23 is like that as well. I have to be moving forwards (not tried backwards) but do not need to steer much if at all any.

Did you recently got a software update?

When i disengage the lockers i have to wait till the light stops to flash. When it is off i can engage again. But not before.

Nope, no software update that addressed anything drivetrain related since new (January 2024 production)

I think you guys might be talking about slightly different things. The YT was published on May 12, 2025 and is highlighting an MY24+ software update that the driver is calling Change of Mind.

He first demonstrates the current behaviour. After unlocking the light goes into fast flash until split (left and right) wheel speeds are detected then the light goes out. He does the steering thing just to show that the diff has unlocked (the wheels are not skidding) but the switch light stays on fast flash until split wheel speeds are detected.

This update appears to be that the driver can now relock the diff during the unlock fast flash stage, i.e. a change of mind "I unlocked but I need to lock again while the light is still on."
Presumably (I haven't tried) on MY23 and according to User1 for MY24 prior to this update the light had to go out first.

As the driver and Eaton/Harrop demonstrate, the electromechanical lock and unlock action is fast. It is independent of the light in the switch. IA bound them together. The common misconception is that the diff is not locked/unlocked until the light says so.
I suspect (via a SWAG*) the wheel speed detection routine is primarily for controlling ESC and ETC while the front or rear diff is locked. Independent wheel braking doesn't work if the cross axles are locked.

Regardless; for the diff to lock or unlock and for the switch light to change the axles must turn.

*SWAG: A Scientific Wild-Ass Guess.
