I didn't measure. I had the original part in my hand, so I just took that to the auto parts store with me.Did anyone measure the hose ID or barb OD? I’m gonna order a couple brass double barbs.
Well, in my case; my heater worked great before the failure, even in auto. Now that they've put new fittings in it, I get no heat in auto.I’m sure there are other similar fittings/connectors peppered around the cooling system. Curious if failures like this at various points in the cooling circuit could be creating flow and obstruction (air pockets) problems and be a contributing factor to some of the uneven heating issues through the HVAC system?
When you find something that works well post a link?Did anyone measure the hose ID or barb OD? I’m gonna order a couple brass double barbs.
Perhaps the connector was roughly handled during installation. Push/ wiggle can crack these plastic connectors.Strangely, the other half of the fitting looked perfect. Like new. Not weak at all.
Sounds promisingWorking on all aluminum tanks for coolant and power steering with AlliSport in the UK. Stay tuned!
Are they also working on a spares kit for various hose connectors? So we can do in field repairs.Working on all aluminum tanks for coolant and power steering with AlliSport in the UK. Stay tuned!
Not that I know of yet. I’m in the process of working with them for the tanks. My enquiry was the impetus to kick off the work. Are they also working on a spares kit for various hose connectors? So we can do in field repairs.
It would be good if they can at least tell you what connectors would be useful to buy as spares - and post it here. Not that I know of yet. I’m in the process of working with them for the tanks. My enquiry was the impetus to kick off the work.
Would love to discuss a field repair kit however. Which fittings are you thinking?
I concur, I can ask. Not sure if they'll have that info off the cuff.It would be good if they can at least tell you what connectors would be useful to buy as spares - and post it here.
Thanks we do need someone trying to find a solution for this. It is appreciated.I concur, I can ask. Not sure if they'll have that info off the cuff.
What I've been doing independently is scouring BMW and Toyota GR Supra (A90) youtube and forum references for many of the common issues they experience and replace over the higher mileage examples of BMWs with the Gen 2 B58 (TU) engines. This has been quite fruitful, and reveals issues with oil filter housing, plastic coolant fittings on the block/head, etc.
I've got a couple lists compiled and some of the replacements available in the US (plastic to aluminum, etc.).
Note that the Grenadier does have some unique part numbers (i.e. the coolant header/expansion tanks), but much of it is shared with BMW G## and X## series vehicles + the late gen Z4 and Supra (A90).
