Clunk / Thunk - front suspension

So I’ve had my grenadier for 9 months now. I’ve done about 200-300 miles off-road. Here in Florida we have a lot of sand tracks through the national forest that often undulate giving you a bit of a roller coaster ride of up/down motion along the tracks when Sunni g at say 20mph.

When going in a straight line, over these humps and into dips, when the front axle springs compress (uniformly) I get a distinct “clunk” or “thunk” sound. Not metal on metal, and there is no hard bottoming out.

I’m thinking this is perhaps the bump stops engaging as the springs compress? Maybe bottoming out the shocks?

I’m not concerned but has anyone else experienced this?

Just curious. I love exercising the grenny off-road!

Do you have an aftermarket skid plate installed?

Yes I’ve experienced the same on sand tracks earlier in the year. In my case the problem was caused by slightly misaligned steering trackrods rubbing/fouling when the suspension compressed.

Check the steering damper bolt is not hitting the long steering arm (sorry names maybe wrong), if it is you will see the witness marks. I had the same after my dealer corrected the alignment. Was adjusted again to eliminate the noise and it's now perfect.

I have the same.. when the front-end compresses over undulating road surfaces, there is a muted clunk, that I can feel slightly in the floor board, this is while off-roading, so less than 10mph

I think It's steering related. Sometimes when doing 2 point turns in a parking lot, I feel the same clunk from simply turning the steering wheel.

@Asnes Are you still experiencing this symptom?

I get this, especially when turning wheel to the right after full lock on left if that makes sense.
