Best input for solar panel?

Hi all
I have a 2023 Trialmaster wagon, and a little while ago I put a solar panel on the roof in between the cross bars.
I already had in place an Anderson plug with a lead and fuse to the auxiliary battery terminals. This is how I (prior to solar) charged my lithium battery box on my Cape trip.
Since that trip the battery system never gets much above 85%, in fairness I mostly do short trips.
Because the start battery is harder to access due to all the plastic panels covering it, where is the best location to input the feed from solar? I previously read somewhere that it was best on positive start battery terminal and a negative stud on the body, but also remember something about there being a shunt in there somewhere.
So before I pull it all apart (I also have to re route the cable that's still coming out of one of the cargo barrier connections in the roof about passenger seat.) can anyone suggest the best connection point?
I did get it in via one of the power ext grommets, but lost interest once it was inside.
Thanks in advance
Pedro

Hi Pedro

Maybe my Anderson plug pig tail will illustrate how best to connect to the starter battery.

Simply connect positive to the starter battery and negative to the earth stud on the floor between the fusebox and seat side. this will allow the vehicle battery monitor to "see" the charge going in.

Cheers

I missed your earlier post. Personally I would put an inline fuse in that lead next to the battery as I don’t like leads hanging around that are not fused.
Edit. Sorry that for I think that is an inline fuse in the picture
