General B58 performance tune

For those that don't want to go the full hog of a tune. I can highly recommend a Throttle Commander. Several of them out there for the Grenadier. They don't increase power, merely make the throttle more responsive. No insurance issues to deal with and for the money, a great addition, in my view.

Nah I will just press harder

Loving My Bluespark - I have 2000 miles on mine now and it works great. Gas mileage per gallon depending on how you drive, but mine is at about 14mpg.

Call Off Road Gear Guys - Marty to purchase yours here in the US>
Marty talked me through my installation at the end as the cam sensor was a little tricky for me to locate.

Can this also be put in eco mode? If so, what is the increase in mpg?

How much is this thing, when buying from Marty?
Yeah it can be dialed in. They say they’ve figured out the best all around tune from the factory so not to change the setting it comes with. That’s unless you have added weight or big tires and height etc. That would require the setting to be a bit different than a stock set up.

There is no way this thing is getting 18mpg. The closest I got was 16.5mpg and that was at very high altitude and babying it. The MPG on the dash isn't legit it's using Imperial gallons which is 20% more.
So do you NOT recommend buying the TDI tuning software for increasing your mpg on your INEOS ?

If I drive conservatively, I will easily get 18 to 20 mpg. Depends on how conservative I wish to be, and how often I use cruise control.

As an update the BlueSpark has made it awesome. I can really feel it launch and hear the turbo going as it's shifting through gears. I love it and I'm glad I did it. I left it at it's default of 430HP, I haven't done a dyno with it but I find myself punching it every time I get in because I just like feeling it dig down and go. Absolute night and day difference. No fuel numbers as of yet. Haven't had a long road trip to measure.
How are you doing Flying Texan, I’m a new Grenedier member in California and I saw your results from the Blu Spark. So did you have to do any other modifications with that? And did you have to use special fuel? Or was it just on 91 octane snd the blue spark?

I have a blue spark chip , along with a pedal commander Love them both. Thing is a torque machine now, and acceleration is incredible
I use 91 octane Blue Spark was super helpful with the install

I read that bmw systems have a way to flag out of spec engine metrics. So in the event you use these piggyback tuners, the dealer + manufacturer can “infer” such device was used..

Anyone experienced with this area?

I use a chipyourcar.com tuner chip. Whenever I take my vehicle to the dealer, they remove the chip from the ODB2 port for their diagnostics and put the module back after. The service team doesn't comment about it.

Just got my Bluespark from ORGG.

No info came with it but Marty called me immediately and got me squared away.

The shunted connector is for Bluetooth and goes in between the box and cables.

It definitely woke up the Ineos.

Ran two quick 0-60s using a Dragy (gps accelerometer). 1/2 tank, 18s, 4H with rack and drawer system.

I can’t tell if 1st gear/ 0-30 hesitation is turbo lag or wheel spin and ESC intervention, need to play with it a bit—the G drop at 10-15mph is likely ESC. But happy with the results, especially considering the Bluespark run was at 2x DA from stock. Very likely it should dip into the 6’s with the nannies turned off.

Wait so you use this universal tuner with your Ineos!? I am new to this technology. How is a genetic device able to improve performance in a safe/reliable manner across all engine + drivetrain combos?

Back when I purchased mine, they didn't have the universal tuner yet. I picked a BMW model with what looked like B58 specs and purchased the tuner for that one.

It works well?
So far so good. I noticed a difference in power and, if the average fuel efficiency is accurate, I've gotten 21 mpg driving on a city street averaging no more than 50 mph. Highway? Not so good. Around 15 mpg, given that speeds average 70+ mph.
