Auxiliary Battery Removed from New Vehicle Specifications

Personally the way forward and easiest way is a BLUETTI charger 1 with a BLUETTI power station to power all my tools and camping needs. It’s completely separate from the car battery. No need for inverters and DC to DC charger. Charges power station upto 560 watts of power on the go and solar power input is also possible. Very little wiring and power station is portable.

Might be worth getting them tested by your dealer.

Mine were absolutely fine and then it sat at a bodyshop for 3 months without a trickle charge and now they’re knackered. Can’t get them above 90% and they won’t stay there. New batteries incoming, just an argument about whether bodyshop pays for it (via insurance) or a claim to Ineos under warranty - which isn’t really fair in my mind.

£350 each apparently.
Yea, I wavered and didn't take immediate delivery so I'm sure it sat for months. I guess with modern cars always drawing some sort of power, it's an issue to consider that didn't exist decades ago. One of the nice features of my 110nas was the easy battery disconnect switch. Park it, flick the switch, come back months later and vrooom. You just had to reset the radio stations and clock. That's a big no no with these new fangled cars.

And you jump the car in the Empty Quarter with that, how? The point of the extra battery in a car is EM, not standby. You'd be more secure using single large battery for all loads and carrying a quality jump start pack, which in my LC100 era, is all I did.

Sorry, something must of got lost in conversation. I don’t jump anything. I use the power station to power my camping stuff. I don’t have any issues with my car battery but carry a portable topdon battery pack to jump start the car just in case.

The second battery was an option I chose not to include. I chose my options to add to a base model QM. I have most of the Trialmaster equipment, without the door tracks (no track on the tub, so could not see the point) No second battery, no compass, and no upgraded alarm. For the $1200 AU second battery option, I could get a good LifePo4 set up. It turned out even cheaper as I have a 120Ah LifePo4 from my caravan that I have installed in my QM. Just need to organize a DC - DC charger, buss bar, and wiring to set it up.

My vehicle will arrive sometime in June. Email from the factory:

In response to customer feedback, we have made the decision to no longer include an auxiliary battery in all future vehicle production. This will serve to improve vehicle simplicity and allow customers the flexibility to install their preferred supplementary power equipment.

This means your vehicle will no longer include an auxiliary battery.

We anticipate you may have some questions or concerns about this change so have provided some further detail below, which we hope will be helpful.

Q: Is the standard battery sufficient to power the vehicle’s electrical functions?

Yes. For example, many customers have chosen a Grenadier in Fieldmaster trim and selected the Integrated Heavy- Duty Winch and High Load Auxiliary Switch Panel & Electrical

Q: Will I notice any obvious impairment of the vehicle’s electrical functions?

A: No, all electrical functions will operate in the same way.

Q: Can the Grenadier still power auxiliary functions with the engine switched off?

Yes, by engaging the auxiliary power (PWR) switch in the overhead console, the Grenadier will be able to power the central USB outlets, 400w Power Take Off, plus the additional pre-wired electrical outlets.

Q: Will the winch still work on the Grenadier?

A: The Auxiliary Battery was never a pre-requisite for winch operation, during which the vehicle’s engine must be running

What happens now?

There is nothing more you need to do, Ineos will amend your order accordingly.

We do understand this may come as a disappointment and in view of this we are happy to issue you with an accessories/service credit value UAE Dirham - 4885

which will be held at your local dealership who can redeem it for you.

I have a 2024 Trialmaster; I turn the overhead power switch to on and my 12volt works for fridge in back and roof power but I can’t get the 400w inverter plugs to power on. I can’t locate anything in the owners manual on how to get these to power without ignition on. But Ineos advertises you can. Do you know where to find the instructions? Any information is appreciated.
