Has anyone had experience with club 4x4?

I am currently with APIA for the truck
63yrs/1295 excess/not working/less than 3 times per week/peak hours/15000klm/garaged/no claims last 3 years/rating 1/windscreen/$133K/$1295X/$1195pa with 10% on line discount (which I don't think will apply to renewal) and multi policy. I just did a new quote on line for APIA and it is now $1270pa

Our Van is with CGU at over 2Kpa.

I did an online quote with 4x4 for both the truck and the van. The combined came in at $2300 for market value plus $20K/$10K extra paid for mods and accessories for the truck and van respectively. So I'm thinking of changing.

I use them for the IG. Great coverage for all the accessories.

They paid out on my wrecked Patrol without any issues. It was a smooth process.

If you are going on a very remote trip you can add on recovery insurance.

BUDGET DIRECT have withdrawn insurance for the Ineos Grenadier. In a letter I received they said they would explain why:- 'in this case we no longer insure the above vehicle so we're unable to offer you cover'. At least they gave me a month to find another insurer for the Ineos (and another vehicle I have with them). I tried a new online quote with BD and it won't let you proceed too far.

Interesting. I have not been notified from BD yet.

Has anyone in Oz renewed their insurance recently and feel they have a good rate? My renewal with AAMI has jumped 25% to $2665 so looking for alternatives.

Try Club4X4. It is a more comprehensive policy with Club 4X4, with offroad coverage and covers listed accessories. I do not think anywhere is cheap.

With their default $1500 off-road recovery cover in reality what would that cover? How far off the beaten track does $1500 get you?

I also use them and they paid out my windscreen replacement without fuss. Their off-road recovery seems to be better than with other insurers.

They paid out when another driver destroyed my Nissan Patrol.

Its curious how the insurance industry works, Club4X4 is sold by Lifestyle Insurance as an agent of Hollard Insurance underwritten by QBE. A quote direct from QBE was approx $1000 more than Club4X4???

Anything is better than Budget Direct who just sent an email stating they will not be insuring anymore.
No thanks just a See ya later.
Having said that I did do a quote from Youi and it was approx 4K… needless to say I am still looking.

Club4X4 is about as good as it gets for 4X4 owners in terms of coverage. Most polices only cover gazetted roads, but Club4X4 include off road, so you go on beaches or remote tracks and you are still covered.

Very few beaches are gazetted (some parts of Fraser Island are) and not all station tracks are gazetted either.

Plus you can take out extended recovery insurance for those really remote trips. Recoveries from Cape York, the Kimberley and the Simpson Desert can be very expensive. You can take out one off extended cover with Club4X4 for these trips.

I’m in the renewal cycle, lowest quote so far for me is from GIO for around $1450 (excess at $2500).

That's a very good price. I've just been quoted $2870.77 from AAMI with $1875 excess (windscreen cover with one excess free claim) for cover of $115,000

My last Youi had increased to $1557 with an $1825 excess.
I guess my age/record/postcode must differ from yours.

I sought quotes from several including 4x4, Shannon's, Budget Direct, NRMA and Suncorp.
Suncorp was by far the best including "new for old"! for next several years (usually expires after 2 years from new).
good luck
D.
