Workshop Manuals available?

Once Ineos allows owner access it’s in the public domain so unless you have signed some sort of privacy agreement it’s for all to see IMO but I am no lawyer

I reckon Ineos know what will happen. This forum is all about helping one another so we are bound to share info. It won’t be too long before some really smart computer geek will be copying the lot and collating it into a book or open access manual. Hopefully we will just be able to look up and download what info we want from this forum once it’s all been collated. After all much info on how to do things has been passed on from Ineos technicians to owners and then disseminated to this forum already.
Yes yes I get that, but you're both making assumptions that we can do whatever we like with their content. Same for the IA guys that have shared content. Were they approved to do that and did it come with a public release?

Don't misunderstand me. I'm making sure we're not 💩 in Stu's nest here plus giving IA further pause on opening up access if this is not what they want to happen.

@Logsplitter: When you first logged in was there any legalese you had to acknowledge to gain entry?

I know we're all keen to get access, but in the interim is there any copyright issues with IA's tech content? I would not want to put @Stu_Barnes under pressure because we're posting IA's propriety information on the forum (and by extension, on the Internet).
Thanks for thinking like that, it’s appreciated. I have mentioned this in the past and there’s been no push back to date. I suppose it’s going to be a case of asking for forgiveness.
On a side note, the amount of work this endeavor has become is not what I was expecting but in a good way. The conversation with Lynn for example. That’s been back and forth trying to figure everything out for most of this year and there’s a few other things that I’m trying to iron out. But it’s early doors. As she said this is the start of an ongoing dialogue.

Agreed mate.
Just straight log in. No legal stuff. To be open as one of the first to get access I don’t intend to copy everything and dish it around but if someone on the forum asks me how to do a certain procedure or supply a part number then I will try and help. This is the only social media I do and I’m certainly not in the business if pissing off Ineos as some are. (That’s not aimed at you 👍🏼) I feel Ineos has treated my fairly all along as an early adopter even though I’ve had way more of my fair share of problems. .

Cheers for that.
I've done enough. Stu is aware and monitoring for feedback through his channel so I'll stop poking the bear. I have no doubt that IA discussed this before opening up access so as long as there are no actual or tacit agreements or licences for our use of the data then we're good to go, and Stu can sleep at night.

Workshop manuals are normally copyrighted. However the rules in most countries allow you at least to copy and share parts of the content.

Automotive suppliers don't tend to litigate, even Ferrari (about as protective as you can get) publish manuals on their website. In most cases helping somebody by showing a section of a manual could be argued as fair use anyway.

The first step if somebody is breaching your copyright is a non binding cease and desist letter, so it isn't that a court summons would be the first you would hear about it.

There was only a username and password supplied. No associated T&Cs.

When you login to the portal it’s straight in, no consumer niceties. It’s very much a working tool.

So I had been struggling seeing the full video on the iPad as the video was only partially showing at the top of the screen. I’ve found out if you click the link as indicated in red you then get a full screen video on the iPad. They really are very good. Well done to Ineos for this. It’s absolutely brilliant 👏🏼👌🏼

I received this email below and replied to it via the Request Access button.
I then received an email telling me they will email the link for access soon.
I haven't received that yet but it has only been a couple of days.

I also requested access but never received a confirmation e-mail. Is this part of the wait?

You should get a confirmation email like this and in my case less than a week later I was granted accessView attachment 7905756
That's because you are a celebrity at Ineos Automotive: who is crazy enough to ship it's Grenadier to Africa with almost 0 kilometers on the counter ...

I just purchased this @Tazzieman after you posted it somewhere, it’s also brilliant, although I’m still not sure I’ll understand how a women’s mind works even after reading it. The Ineos workshop manual however is far more understandable 😂

C‘mon, we‘re all waiting for the stripdown.

Fair point and the guy at the Ineos dealer in Bridgewater did say that Ineos seem to know your vehicle pretty well 😂. I would have had a few thousand miles on the clock if my power steering hadn’t failed three times before I shipped. I was fretting at the time as I thought I would miss the boat. The new pump arrived in the nick of time 😥. All is well that ends well though and I’m loving the Grenadier. Something must be right , the amount of money I’m spending on aftermarket upgrades. Ready for next years travels. I’ve got the Grenadier bug more than I had the Defender bug. 😍
