Just wanted to say thanks so much for posting this. I used this as a guide to wire the rear camera. Only slight difference was I hid the wire from front to back so hid the extra wire under the rear door bottom panel (didn’t need the extended cable or 5 foot extension- had plenty of wire on the standard cable going this route). I have the table installed so I just routed the wire down the back of the table and it’s barely visible. Added some plastic rubber tubing around where it zip tied just to protect the wire and I think it looks pretty good as well. I hardwired into the right footwell and that made it easy to conceal both wires at once. Anyways, thanks for the insight!
Glad that my write-up helped you. I dont know about others, but my camera will not stay glued to the rear door. I currently have it stuck to the top plastic trim but the double-sided tape and even new 3M tape I bought will not work. The rear camera keeps falling down. I've cleaned the surface with alcohol each time I try to use a new piece of tape and even had the camera clamped in pace for 1/2 day...what are people doing? Are you all sticking the mount to the glass instead of the plastic trim??

My rear camera has not fallen off so far.
I also did not want to screw it to the trim.

Maybe slightly sand it a bit for adhesion?

I had the same issue! I went to Home Depot and got Scotch Guard heavy duty double sided tape and cut to size and held it firm for 2 minutes on the plastic trim (seemed like forever-actually timed it). So far it seems pretty good. The 3M would fall off over night but so far the Scotch held overnight and seems pretty solid. I’ll update if it doesn’t hold up….

I was going to try Super Glue! Maybe I'll wait for your results first...heh.

3M is Scotch, same company. The strongest is 3M VHB two sided tape.

Has anyone been able to read the mirror memory card on a MacBook Pro? Wolfbox sent me a card reader adapter but when I plug it into my Mac I get an error saying the card is not readable by this computer. Wolfbox has a Mac version of their video player, which I downloaded but my computer can't even read the card. The response from Wolfbox was to use a Windows computer, which I don't have. I have the G850 mirror model.

Thanks

Be interesting to hear how you solve this…I have a Mac and iPad so would want to be able to use either. If it wont read then I wont be buying the Wolf Box

I was going to suggest something like gorilla glue to fix the pad or a Velcro pad if it needs taking down at some point. A lot less permanent that screwing into the panel.

That plastic has a grain to it and so will be hard to stick to, however the grain might be good for the glue to get a hold of.

I would stay away from super glue, it can become quite messy. A much better choice is E6000. You can get it from Amazon or the hardware store. I have used it on many cars for my projects. it is excellent and I never found anything better. You can use blue painters tape to hold it while it cures. I have my Wolfbox 900, I have to wait for the build. I bought the Wolfbox brand new in sealed box for $165.00 that is the best price I have found for the model 900.

Thanks! I think I'm going to screw in the bracket. If I use glue, it'll likely mar the surface of the plastic trim if i ever have to removeit, so a few small holes is probably OK too.

Ah! Velcro pad! That's good idea! I'll have to see if I have some...

In the beginning I used velcro. The advantage is that you can reposition it. But the adhesive of the velcro wasn't that good. So, it fell off, and of course, more often as time passed on.

Then I bought a double sided adhesive for glueing inside mirrors in a shop specialised in car stuff for professionals at about 200m from my dealer. If I find the brand, I will edit my post here.

Since then it didn't fall off.

Ultimately, I ended up using the two screws that came with the kit and pre-drilled small holes into the plastic trim and secured the camera mechanically. If I ever need to remove the camera (unlikely) I can prboably patch the hole with some grey toothpaste! ;) BTW, I bought and installed the Wolfbox anti-glare film on my G900...only drove the truck once since then, but the reduction of reflections was very noticeable and a huge improvement. I didnt feel that the film degraded the clarity of the display much...or at least not nearly as bad as I feared. So far I give it a thumbs up.

Velcro is held on with adhesive that's probably less strong than VHB. To get it done and not to worry, use 2 sided tape and one little #6 sheet metal screw in the center of the hinged mount.

Quick question - has anyone considered/purchased the 10" wolfbox (G930 4k 10" camera) mirror rear/front camera? as the OEM mirror is just under 10 inches, i'm wondering if the smaller (than the 12" models) would look better. thoughts?

I originally had my camera on the roof but I got water in the rear door because of the way I routed the wire behind the door gasket. I now have the camera on the door with the same double-sided tape. Mine is on the plastic trim.

That looks good. I had my wire routed beind the panel and up through the wire chase that the washer fluid goes through.

I know have a table so I haven't put the plastic trim back as I wasn't sure if I wanted to drill a hole in the table panel (GP Factor) or do what you did. Yours looks like a solid choice. Thanks

I have mine strapped to the existing mirror and since the wolfbox is bigger, it hides the oem mirror very well. Thinking that the 10" might not? Just a thought if you're considering using the bands to mount it.

Good point. I’ll go w the 12. I don’t intend to remove the stock mirror.

Thanks! First time I’ve done anything like this so I’m pretty happy with how it all turned out!
