Has anybody tried to "trim" the windshield with a certain product? If so which? I tried one from amazon... it was crap. Just thinking it might help with chips. I saw the OWL VAN guy do it, I called and got the product he used so round 2 will be this weekend. Hoping for better results.

I watched the video, got the same trim and then realized I had Exoshield and it was probably a bad idea to use the heat gun on that. Not sure if anyone has attempted it with Exoshield

I would think that if you heated the trim off of the window before applying it would be fine. Cant be any hotter than the windshield in direct sunlight and 110 degrees outside.

Tried the same rubber trim idea and figured it wouldn’t work if you have windshield protection film installed which I do. Didn’t take more than three minutes to confirm the trim piece would not stick to the protection film heat or not.

If you are brave and have a steady hand you could trim off some of the protection film around the edge of the windshield just wide enough to allow the trim to stick directly to the glass. Opted not to do that and risk scratching the glass.

Maybe when the windshield finally does take a hit big enough to crack it I’ll put the rubber trim on first then the protection film.

I used edge trim similar if not the same profile from Tintvent on Amazon.UK back in August last year, I see it's available from Amazon.com too. Working on a warm day is helpful as is a bit of modest heat from a heat gun applied prior to dealing with the corners helps a lot as does keeping the stuff to be applied organised and not allowed to tangle. Make sure to clean the edges of the screen and degrease with isopropyl alcohol thoroughly first.

For the stuff I used search Amazon for 'Tintvent Automotive Door Edge Trim Molding Kit with Tape, L Shaped Lip Guard for Car Fenders, Running Boards, Camper Shells, Spas, Mirrors Edge and More, Black (26Feet)'
