Hello!

Was wanting to know if anyone has had any experience with a whining sound coming from the stereo. It's pretty subtle, but I'm sure it's coming from there since it seems to "follow the music", as in it'll follow the beat almost. My girlfriend can't hear it in the car with me but I certainly can and it's slowly driving me crazy since she can't hear it! It only happens when music is on. The car can be stationary or moving. It may start after driving for ~5-10 mins rather than right when I turn it on. I have disconnected the USB charging cable for my phone.

Anyone have any experience with it? Bad ground, maybe?

Thanks for your time.

Do you have anything hooked up the the car's electrical system that is aftermarket? Sometimes bad power supplies can create ripple noise that propagates back into the vehicles power systems. If you do, try removing it to see if the noise goes away.

Bad grounds generally have that effect on ac circuits where neutral and safety ground are connected and form a ground loop between each other. But for vehicles I think it's more common to see switching power supplies create noise on the positive terminal. Not that it can't be a ground issue but I suspect it's more likely something added that creates the noise.

I had a similar problem with my midland radio, I had to add a filter between the radio and car power to remove noise.
