Yes…. As suggested some time ago by someone else it works perfectly

Nice, I missed that. How much fo the strap do you cut off? Or better question, how much oif the strap remains/goes into the slot?

After attempting to wrap the shiny black centre console plate with some matt grey vinyl (and having failed miserably around the screw holes) I decided to hit it with some 600, 1000 and 1500 grit sand paper to dull it down (and prevent the annoying glare it created in direct sunlight).

A few lessons learned. The Pentel whiteout didn’t go as planned and using rubbing alcohol to clean thins up took the shine off the anodized finish. It’s still black but lost its luster. I bought some anodized aluminum cleaner which helped but still can tell it’s not the same.

I think the whiteout dried too quickly and then I struggled to remove excess not down in the grooves. Maybe paint is the next effort.

Another update. Nailed it (well almost). The way to go is to use a lacquer paint stick. I messed around multiple times and finally came up with a good strategy. I used a tiny plastic “scraper” and used it to pack the recesses with some of the paint stick. It is not particularly liquidy, more like a paste, so I packed it full and wiped away the excess.

There was some residue left behind but I learned the hard way that the recesses are too shallow to simply wipe it off while still “wet”. I let it sit for days until the lacquer hardened up and then with a Qtip and a little dab of rubbing alcohol everything cleaned up.

You may notice that some of the black looks crappy but that is due to the over use alcohol needed to clean up the white out debacle. I’m going to reach out to @GrenadierUSA and see if they can make a version with deeper recesses and if so, this technique should look factory good.

I have a trip coming up that takes me far enough away from home that I would prefer to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. A$160 shipped from Summit Racing. Much cheaper than anything I could get locally.

Also some spare M8 x1.25 x 50mm cap screws from Bolt and Nut Australia. My front driveshaft has been replaced previously so I'm not expecting issues with broken driveshaft screws but I have them anyway.

I will pre-grease the CV then vacuum seal it in a bag.

Hey @MattG. The Crown Automotive PN is 68272524FRK. It's the Summit Racing link in my post. The equivalent Teraflex PN is 1745000.
Tomatoe/tomato. Buy whichever you can get the best deal on. The Summit Racing service was great.

Something on the infotainment screen a la passenger airbag toggle which remembers setting would be nice. Then I can use that button for passenger ejector thru the safari!

Ordered up power steering cap seal in 2.62mm thickness to fix my greasy looking power steering filler cap area. Arrives next week at local supplier. - $2.90. Same thing if ordered from agile off-road was similar price but $79 to deliver to New Zealand. Thank goodness for local suppliers and this forum’s tech heads for providing the size detail. 40.95 x 2.62 mm in Viton.

Today was exhaust day. With a little help from all around good guy Jared we installed the Kooks cat back 3" 304 stainless system. It deletes the resonator and sounds amazing without being annoying. All in from unboxing to first drive took about an hour and 45 minutes.

The factory exhaust is available free to a good home in Northern California between San Francisco and Sacramento. A special thanks to David from Design Build Go in Statesville North Carolina for bringing these to market. It costs a bit more but is worth it.
