What did you do with your Grenadier today?

Just fitted the Falken Wildpeak AT4s to the beast. A Falken 265/70/R17 in the AT4s looks like I went to a 275 or maybe even a 285.

Still plenty of tread on the "old" KO2's. Three of which are being moved across to my Stockman Pod trailer. The fourth was fitted to a spare rim I bought for the IG, as a second spare.

I do not see the point of buying new tyres for the trailer when there is plenty of tread still on the KO2s. So I put some milasge on the KO2s and moved them across.

It came down to KO3s, AT4s and Cooper ST Maxx (which I used for many years on the Patrol without a single puncture). Coopers was knocked out first, then the KO3s.

The steering is lighter but that may just be the new tyres with a slick surface. I go for a longer drive this afternoon after I correct the tyre pressures.

EDIT: torquing of wheel nuts checked. Tyre air pressures fixed. I suspect the tyre shops gauge needs calibration.

Do General Grabber have the correct XL version that we have on the KO2's? I had GB's on previous vehicle and found them to work perfect for my needs, but it was lighter vehicle

I only did a cursory look at their website but thought they have. I always ran my Discoverys on GB and they were the correct XL rating.

Fantastic combo with the Supra shifter and Grenadier USA transfer case knob. The only possible improvement would be for the shift pattern in the transfer case knob to be painted white.

I painted my black anodized T-case knob with a ultra-fine paint pen from amazon, 2 careful coats and it came out great

I do, it is fitted with KO2 tyres the same as I took off the IG. Now both the van and the older pod trailer are using the same tyre - KO2s. The pod trailer is just a fancy offroad box trailer, not a van.

The IG now has Falken AT4s. However, the IG's spare tyres are still KO2s (but I now have 2 spares for remote travel).

In short, 3 of the "old" KO2's went to the pod trailer, one became the second spare for the IG (I already had a spare steel rim).

Tyre sizes are now the same across all three.

RE: GrenX Snorkel: (Will update this post with photos asap)

I've ordered and received the GrenX aluminum snorkel through Rohan, and Rohan was incredibly helpful through the whole process. It took quite some time to receive the kit from Aus to the west coast of the US. I ordered in June and got the kit in early October of this year. Hoping to install in the coming days and will take photos and video of the install process and final product, will share when complete.

Reason for the extended lead time: production time which is listed on the product page and finding a suitable importation clearance agent. We ended up going with DHL from Melbourne to LAX.

Extra-credit FILTER: as far as filter is concerned: I purchased a Donaldson from Volant. It's the filter for the 2.3/2.7L Ford Ecoboost intake kit that they sell for the Ford Bronco, which is roughly in the same CFM requirement range for airflow from the engine (the 2.7L Twin Turbo V6 in particular, running much higher boost pressures than the 3.0L B58 in our Grenadiers), AND will fit into the GrenX sealed air box. These are not washable filters, but rather long life and with a pre-filter and the sealed snorkel, I'm sure the filter will last quite some mileage.

PN Pre-Filter: 51920 (Volant/Donaldson)

NOTE: this filter change is likely completely unnecessary, it's simply my OCD and experimentation playing into obsession, and Donaldson is largely the king of filter technology for heavy equipment.

These are a little bit to fiddle with to squeeze into the GrenX aluminum sealed air box, but they do fit with clearance for airflow. The main thing is you'll need to align the sealing rings with 3" rubber filter flange with the adapter rings that come with the Uni-Filter that GrenX ships with. It is serviceable in-situ within the engine bay, thanks to the large top opening of the air-box. Aesthetics fit the utilitarian-industrial chic of the Grenny, that nearly nobody will ever notice.

Will update with how this filter performs post install.
