How are your Thule bars, do you have 2 or more. What size did you use for the foot and how much clearance is there?
When I got my Grenadier it came with 2 Thule bars but not the attachment. I wasn't sure about using them on the gutters, what are your thoughts?
 
Very nice, I'm planning to make the same change ;-).
Did you use the original Stedi brackets for mounting?
Yes original and work fine. Was a set completely with right plugs. Not cheap but easy and no additional work needed

I have 2 Thule and 2 origin Ineos. Ineos is much more better and massive. I had the Thule only, because the Rhino arrived 6 months later than the Grenny. The Thule works, but feeling with the gutters is better at the Rhino. I wouldn’t waste the Thule so I used additional for loading boxes on the roof. The RTT is on the Rhino. Thule same clearance as Rhino

I spent the weekend driving my Grenadier through the countryside with a sense of wistfulness, enjoying this wonderful vehicle. The reduction gear and differential locks engage so smoothly. And the heating and air conditioning systems also work well. I haven't had any problems with the vehicle for the whole time. This is mainly thanks to my dealer, who does an excellent job! My Grenadier will soon be three years old, and because he is so much fun, I have used him as my daily driver, contrary to my original plan, so that I can spend as much time with him as possible. Nevertheless, I am afraid I have to part with it. This is neither due to the quality of the Grenadier nor the dealer. Unfortunately, the Grenadier is too tall. I use it exclusively as a workhorse, mostly in rural areas.
But I also have to travel around urban areas unexpectedly and use underground car parks. I have found a suitable replacement that meets all my requirements, so selling it is not quite so difficult for me. I would especially like to thank @Stu_Barnes and @Krabby , but also @TheDocAUS and everyone else who has made this forum what it is today: An outstanding community. I was there right from the start, when I could still read all the posts in half an hour a day. I will keep my forum badge and my access to the forum. I wish you all lots of fun with your outstanding vehicle. Take care guys!

I have, but that doesn't help me. I need to be flexible, and I may be out in the countryside in the morning and in the city in the afternoon. I've already found a replacement.

SEALED SNORKEL
Just paid for the final work on Wally, being:
  1. install the diff breather kit;
  2. add rear airbags for towing the van (Poly Air, the ones also used on the van); and
  3. bolt on a sealed snorkel. It is a bolt on job, no cutting. GrenX's final development of the diesel airbox is now complete. Rohan confirmed to me last Friday at the 4WD and Adventure Show.
Have some DIY things to do, but GrenX will do the final work. I need to book the trip to Melbourne. I organized the final work with GrenX at the Sydney 4WD and Adventure show last Friday.

The exterior will be very OEM looking (that is the AU blinker fitted, different to the rest of the world):

Watching the Grenadiers do water crossings up at Cape York in the Canny Outdoor video was the final prompt. The water crossing was deep enough that one unseen pothole and whoosh, as the water gets sucked into the motor.

The old GU Patrol had a sealed snorkel and I needed it one day, crossing the Gascoyne River to reach Kennedy Ranges National Park.

I will be watching how you get on with the snorkel with great interest. I smashed up the terrible OEM RAI a bit on a tree and have been looking to replace it with something better

That raised air intake looks good. Is it the same for both Diesel and petrol?

I'm sorry to hear you must part ways with your Gren. Best of luck with the replacement.
 
That raised air intake looks good. Is it the same for both Diesel and petrol?
External part yes, but the airbox varies between models. They needed to modify the air flow for the diesel, as they were triggering MAF alerts.

The picture above is the petrol model airbox. Not sure how different they are, it may be as simple as some minor internal airbox mods, the air filter is the same I believe.

You would need to check you can fit the euro blinker before buying.

GrenX have three models, that one is the bolt on version, the others are cheaper but require cutting into the engine bay. They are all of high quality finish.

With the OEM variant you would need to check they can install the US blinker, as the AU cars have a different one (required by Australian Design Rules).
 
Better yet - what did I NOT do today (yesterday, that is): I did not recover a Mercedes Metris van buried in sand at Glamis dunes.

The guys were a photographer crew taking shots of a baby Bronco in sand; at some point, they decided they needed to follow the Bronco's tracks on the dune slope, and... however bad the baby Bronco is, the Metris (Viano in ROW) is worse.
The van got stuck about 120 feet from pavement, at an angle - to either CA 78 or paved driveway to observation area.

The guys were very enthusiastic about everything, but... the van, purchased three days prior, had zero tools. Including, importantly, the recovery eye bolt that should go through the hole in the front bumper. That left the eyelet welded to the body panel in the rear, off center.

Between me and another very helpful fellow named Rubio with a 4x4 Ram pickup with a winch, we offered winching or pulling the van backwards towards pavement - it required at least Rubio's winch's full drum of cable + 50-60 ft of tow straps.
Having heard of a risk of tearing off that eyelet, the guys politely declined and opted for waiting for AAA tow truck.

I helped the guys to unload the equipment from the van into Rubio's truck, gave Rubio two 30-ft tow straps and a soft shackle, and left around 4pm. Called and texted them a few times, and only got a text way after we arrived home in San Diego - that Rubio stayed with them, and finally winched them out. Kudos to the guy!

The AAA never came.
