The rack has been fine so far. The tent mounting points are strong and shared across two rails, it was the rail on the tent itself that loosened…Hi @Tom D how are you getting on with that Flatdog roof rack on your trailer and was that the cause of the failure ? I had a flat dog roof rack I my defender and I found those extrusions very weak. I had the fixings that were holding my tent and spare wheel tear out of the roof slots at one point.
Glad to see you managed to catch before any major damage.
I pre-ordered my tank when it was still a months-long lead time. When it finally arrived (on-time based on their shipping estimates, so good news there) the pump switch was bad. I couldn't use the tank and the support rep was out of town for a couple of weeks. Once I finally got him on the phone, he was very helpful and he shipped me a new switch and I purchased the upgraded pump which wasn't available when I first ordered the tank. When they arrived, the new switch worked but the new pump did not. Tried to reach them earlier this week but the support rep was out of the office again.I'd like to hear your feedback on the LRA tank plus blacks plus airbags combo. I have the airbags going in on 14th August and will do the LRA tank later. I'm avoiding a spring change at this stage but I'm getting my rig plus camper weighed at trip weight in early September and that will determine what else I need to do.
Glad you caught it in time. Ours came off completely in 2019 in Mauritania. Luckily the guy behind me overtook a few minutes earlier, otherwise would have been catastrophicThe rack has been fine so far. Shitake, the magic mushroom... niceTook Shitake up to Mt Hutt again today, chains on all vehicles and about -4C up there today. Crazy frozen cobwebs and super friendly dogs![]()
Have changed the serial nuts, to selflocking nuts DIN 985, I didn’t trust the normal nuts…..The bolts had worked loose enough to allow the whole thing to slide forward on the rails. It’s added to the daily checklist now.

great shots... what kind of compressor is that? smart idea hangin it off the sideTook some of the family to a quick day at San Luis Pass. Gave me a chance to try my new tire deflator set (worked) and then I figured out how to use a velcro strap and one of my side L-track points and a D-ring clip to keep my compressor out of the sand while I air'd back up. Happy for the shade as the tires inflate a LOT slower than they deflate.
It's a Dewalt 20v Li-ion compressor. Comes with the 12v cord for the cars power ports but also runs off of Dewalt's 20v cordless batteries or an optional ac 120v plug. I like it because it tells you the pressure of the tire when you connect it, then you dial in the pressure you want and it auto stops.great shots... what kind of compressor is that? smart idea hangin it off the side
Happy to share, Montenegro is stunning plain and simple. So long as you’re not scared of heights.Beautiful. I need to pick your brains about your travels as i would like to include areas that your visiting now to into my travel plans for next year.
That is an area we are most definitely wanting to visit when we start our Europe travels.Happy to share, Montenegro is stunning plain and simple. So long as you’re not scared of heights.
I had a couple of hairpin bends today that required a 3 point turn, went into reverse and then realised I was in manual mode and still in forward gear… Brown pants moment…
The contrast with Bosnia is marked. I guess it’s a cultural thing being different religious majorities. Montenegro feels like the Norway of the Balkans, clean (compared to Bosnia) well developed and stunning scenery. That is an area we are most definitely wanting to visit when we start our Europe travels.
