I will say that the Moab Grenadier Gathering 2025 was a great fun. And such a great group of people, the nicest people, helpful, welcoming. The Grenadier Culture is wonderful.

This Saturday 10th May I start my trip driving the Grenadier to Cairns and back for work.
2,896 kms or 1,800 miles and 32 hours roughly driving for the trip up and back.
This is a work trip and I will be calling on customers in Cairns and Townsville.
At around 12 litres/10 kms I will use about 350 litres of diesel plus another 50 litres of local driving for around 400 litres total.
At around $2.00 a litre that makes it about $800 in fuel.

Saturday 10th will be a 5:00 am start and a long day at 901 kms to Bowen.
With breaks it will probably be 11 - 12 hours

Sunday will be a later start at about 9:00am and only 554 kms but lots of road damage after recent flooding so expecting maybe 8 hours drive.

20 odd years ago when I was in a sales/RM role I did a twice yearly trip to visit properties I had on my book up the coast. Would hire a car and drive Brisbane to Cairns with a few inland diversions over a week then fly home.
Awesome road trip. Probably could have managed it yearly, but twice the fun is always better than once.

I love Far North Qld - but only between March and October.

I think you are looking foreward to this road trip, I would be and the Beast gets out for the long run...obviously no chance of flying and hire car, so what sort of gear and weight will be onboard? It will be interesting to see the stats of the run...safe and happy motoring (y)

I will be loading up on Friday and will take a few picture.
I have set it up so all the gear will be in the cargo area only and the seats will all be free.
Maybe a small bag in the rear footwell.
I like to keep everything behind the rear seats/barrier in case of sudden stops or large holes in the road.
I have booked apartments with washers and dryers so I can pack light and do some washing 2-3 times while away.
The Kaon shelf and window Molle panels hold a lot along with my storage boxes.

I installed the GrenadierUSA Button Pusher. Wow, life just got a lot easier. I was surprised what an improvement it made to the start routine.
I still have concerns about permanently pushing a momentary contact switch.
I can't find a picture of what the switch mechanism looks like but it feels like a membrane switch.

Video roughly half way down, shows you the mechanism. You can use it and address your concerns with a little effort.

I'm calling BS on this @bigleonski. A 15 year old cannot get a licence or hire a car. Sales and RM? Yeah probably 😎

I mean what is behind the push button that actually operates the circuit
As it resets every time you stop the vehicle it must only be a momentary contact switch not a latching mechanism.
Typically momentary contact switches are designed and built with a very low duty cycle capability.
For example they will only be carrying a current for a moment and not continuously, so duty cycle may only be 5% or maybe as high as 50%.
This means they are only designed to be on 5% of the time and off 95% of the time or 50/50.
Rarely ever are they designed to be switching 100% of the time.

I recall someone posted a year or more ago pictures of what was behind the panel but I can't find it.
